I am posting this for my big brother. He was a Marine,( I was Navy, aviation ,another story... later) he was like your normal teenager and crazy wild. The Marine Corps perfect dude! Thank god, for what came next..( Hey, I think thats ok or else he might be dead. )

Brad and I came from a Marine corps back ground. I was the shy one (being 4 and 1/2 years younger than Brad) Brad was all over the place..popular, sports (lettered in football, basetball) , I thought he was "the man" and more! lol..our dad was a (and still is at 87) Marine. He was a force in our lives. We moved all over the place..USA, Guam, different bases.

Moving ahead..I was 15 years old when Vietnam was really going crazy. Brad said," you and me are gonna have to go." I said, not me I'm going to San Francisco! (lol, I really said that!!) Time moved on...Brad went to college and played football and had a great time.

Brads grades were not so great..

hey if you guys want to hear more ...let me know. I'll give you a true story of two guys that went two different ways...But...

Leave the OP alone, everyone is free to post their thoughts - I would hope so anyway - It may not be relevant to the majority but if someone feels comfortable enough in this environment to post a thread dedicated to a loved one, who can deny them that?

If it's the wrong forum simply move it and move on.

And I love Donovan.

Hey, thanks for that!

I'm just trying to gather my thoughts. It was a long time ago. I want to tell it like it was.

My brother, in the Marines and me later in the Navy.

If you look at the above
film. That was one of the A-7's that I would later get to know.

I was in school, 10th grade, my brother finished boot camp and was off to "The Nam" he wasn't "in country to long before", he was walking point
...he saw movement in the boonies..he releases the bullets in hs M-16 at the movement..

He wasted three VC ....it was a big deal..he made " Parade magazine" . I can go into that more if you like. But, I remember taken copies to my buds and showing them (the story was about an "all day and night fight", choppers being loss and such..my brother said, "we ran into a battalion" we threw grenades back as they tossed them at us" ) ....and so much more

A Telegram came by two Marines. ( I was called out of class at JEB Stuart High School) I was freaked out....(of course) and went home to my mom, she was upset, to say the least, ( at that time I thought..I will KILL as many gooks as I can) I thought also, "crap", it said in the telegram he was hit in his right arm an right leg..and would go to Japan for fix-up (long story short)..

Thats when I started to think about the "war that never ends" and such..

I would do..

Anyway, my brother came back from his wounds. He went back to "The Nam" and did what all good Marines do, "kill".

He, then got wounded again in a massive fire fight, out numbered and choopers being shot at, the whole ball of wax.

He told me he was throwing chi-com grenades back as they were coming in..

it was a crazy all out attack..

That night, he told me, they were tossing grenades and screaming like nuts. The marines were calm and directing fire at the sounds. The gooks were droping an gave up before sun up.

Jump a head about two years, I was finished at my "Calif." college and with my Cinnamon Girl. I'm telling you the truth..just a while ago( on face book) I was contacted by the daugter of "the
Cinnamon Girl", but, that.s another story. Anyway I was off to "The Navy" !!

Might I be so bold as to ask of your age? Just so that I can read it with the appropriate voice in my head, up until here I've been using Scott Bakula.
