They didn't know about the internet or cell phones either, so the "freedom of speech" doesn't apply to those, right?

Correct but the better correlation in terms of the Amendments would be "the Press"; The press, in the late 1700s had nothing to do with what we term today as "the press". It was the instrument, rather, the tool at the time that was used to support the free speech clause. In identifying it, it implied that the tool utilized to disseminate that speech shall be free of infringement.

Of course, today we have the FCC that has claimed ownership of the "public air waves" in order to regulate. Similar to how they are trying hard to regulate the Internet. It has to be done via back channels and/or a bureaucratic means to implement.

That is how they will effectively limit an individual's right to bear arms too. Through the myriad of Executive level agencies from Commerce to Homeland Security, rules will emanate from them and not via Congress.

Talk about a truly stupid individual. So NOW Feinstein is out in the press calling the NRA 'venal'. She clearly doesn't even understand the meaning of the word and using it is SO ironic. Venal means subject to bribery. Let's face it, if there was any one group that tops the list of being venal it's clearly politicians! Between the K-Street mafia, their campaign financing shenanigans, and the litany of back-door sweetheart deals that are part-and-parcel of politics, politicians are the most venal bunch of carion-eating trash on the planet. Way to go Feinstein. You're a moron.

The petition site is a big joke.

Just there to make people believe they have some say so in government.

That's right. It's just smoke and mirrors, by government illusionists.

Really? That's why every gun shop in Eastern Washington is short on just about everything to do with reloading? Sure sign that the "majority" supports gun control.

I've called fifteen gunshops in eastern Washington looking for brass for reloading my smith and wesson, and I can't find any anywhere...

Majority? Mmmmm...not so much.

obamao runs guns to drug cartels in fast and furious, runs guns to islamists from benghazi ! and wants to ban guns for Americans! I wonder if obamao had a background check before taking command of the nuclear football?

The government is of the people, by the people and for the people, not the other way around. So if she wants the government to have any and all weapons, then we the citizens can too. Tell that senile hag Feinstein that she just contradicted her own argument.
And that paranoid nazi janet Napolitano wants homeland security to have thousands of assault rifles and high capacity magazine pistols not to mention over a BILLION rounds of ammunition. It sounds like they had this planned a long time coming. Why should we give up our guns when they buy more? Sorry, I trust the average citizen a lot more than I do a career politician or fed.

Well, it's amusing to see but we all know it's not going to go anywhere. Even if it gets a response, everyone knows it will be typically obnoxious.

Let's face it. Obama didn't even win the election by that big of a margin (against a very weak opponent) and he's acting like he did something.

Well at the start it was a good idea, The problem is Americans really do not have many real problems to complain about so they just ad crap has no logic or common sense thus we have this treason stupidity, kicking out states, and building death stars. Most of planet if given this opportunity with their gov would be asking for clean water, some kind of education, freedom to say what they wanted, womens rights, power that is on 24 hours a day, safe food, or enough food for 3 meals a day. And intead we have people posting jokes and stupid stuff. We really do have it way to easy even in the so called hard times.

And what are these people who have it way too easy in this country supposed to do when the government starts doing things they don't want?

At some point, a gilded cage is still a cage.

Many of the people who live in this country today are descended from people who came here from other places not so long ago. They may have been happy for a while being treated like well fed zoo animals but they are human beings. They can think and reason and they can see that they are being treated like milking cows.

The people you speak of might be happy just to be here....for a while. But human beings do not want to be owned and ordered around like dogs even if they are comfortable.
