I don't disagree with your assessment and never have to that premise in this thread.

An armed thug at the door isn't going to wait the average 8 minute response time to kick the door in, he's going to do it within seconds of you hearing him. Leaving your post to grab the phone can and most likely WILL endanger you. Go for the gun first, call the cops AFTER he's down.

Well that scenario wasn't presented here now was it? The picture presented was of responsibility and composure and I am all for that.
