Sure, yes I think just like I dont like using cell phone, I can always feel the electro magnetic
disturbance especially after 15 minutes or so of it next to my head....

I think that the resonance and the interference may be a factor, but I personally dont think
it is the most direct cause, the scientific community is pretty much in agreement, its the
neonics.....neonicotinoid pesticides, which went into wide spread use in the 1990's...
which target insects' central nervous system.

Scientists with the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) have re-created the mysterious Colony Collapse Disorder in several honeybee hives simply by giving them small doses of a popular pesticide, imidacloprid. Bee populations have been dying mysteriously throughout North America and Europe since 2006, but the cause behind the decline, known as Colony Collapse Disorder, has eluded scientists. However, coming on the heels of two studies published last week in Science that linked bee declines to neonicotinoid pesticides, of which imidacloprid is one, the new study adds more evidence that the major player behind Colony Collapse Disorder is not disease, or mites, but pesticides that began to be widely used in the 1990s.

Like you we try very hard to keep flowers and water handy for the bees (and others) around our home. When we first moved here (deep south TX) eight years ago bees and butterflies were still abundant. I have coral vine on most of our fencing and it used to be literally covered by bees and butterflies for a good portion of the year. This plant blooms from early spring to late fall, sometimes year round if the weather is mild. This year the vines did very poorly and even when they finally managed to bloom I had to go looking for the bees and we had so few butterflies that on any given day I might see less than fifty. We also used to have an amazing variety of butterfly species, I now only see about five. Up until 15yrs ago there were some "Monarch Trees" just down the road from where I live. They were cut down to make way for progress.

Much of the problem here has to do with the drought and now with the advent of the new oil boom it seems nearly every open acre of land has been bulldozed under for industrialization. Add into that deadly mix the GMO crops and pesticides...the bees haven't much of a chance. Oh, and like you I have not seen very many yellow jackets, or even wasps. Many species of local critters have seen their number in steep decline. I haven't seen a horned toad nor tarantula for three years and only one armadillo this year. There is one bright spot though, the fire ants have burrowed deep underground so are not as much a danger as usual.

When I lived in Maine we used to see the bee trucks from TX come in every spring to the blueberry fields because New England had lost much of it's bee population to disease about thirty years ago. I look around me now and wonder who will be able to bring the bees next year.

Monsatan and Bayer are not going to stop producing the Pesticide Corn....

All of the GMO corn has this stuff built right into it....the bees forage and they pick
up these "neonics" and the pollen from these transgenic crops.....

Monsatans answer is to create GE bees that can withstand these toxins...

They can do what they want, but if proper peer reviewed studys are done in various parts of the world, and conclude what you suggest..then it will be outlawed. Might as well be making crack for all the legal good it will do.

I like the concept of GM food. But it must be tested to be safe for all conditions and consumption. Side effects such as a reduced population of bee's is not acceptable and they will need to fix it if they want to remain in business..global bans tend to sting. (get it..bee's...sting...nevermind. back to my dayjob)

I feel that I'm affected by all the electromagnetic waves in the air. I've been to the doctors for chronic head pain that got worse when i moved to an apartment in an urban area. About 20 Wi-Fi routers in my building. I moved away and feel so much better. And, I went to see a neurologist (actually several, almost went to a Head Pain Institute for cognitive testing), and he found that my B-1 or thiamine was extremely low. And, B-12. Once a month B-12 injection and 100 mg B-1 per day and I'm fine. I didn't know that your brain gets it's energy only from thiamine or sugar to produce glucose. So, the idea that low glucose due to EM waves and your brain not producing sufficient melatonin is astounding.

I know it's off of the bee topic, but I need to find my way around too. Has anyone else been affected? I'm not about to make my bedroom a Faraday cage, but I have really tried to stay away from towers and cell phones.

Interesting. Ever think or try of moving to a place with little to no electromagnetic waves / just a natural setting? Just curious why you're shooting drugs and not trying something natural first...

I don't know where you've been the past 15-20 years or so, but the drastic bee population decline has been noticed scientifically for awhile now. I remember my college professor mentioning this in the 90's. Remember X-Files??

I would venture to say that this problem IS regional. Our region was on the leading edge of GMO use and research, pesticde/herbicide use, seed science, agrology, etc. Our bumblebee population has been nearly non-existent for a better part of 15 years. However in this period species such as wasps and hornets have thrived.

Saturn, you mention that science and authourities should easily identify such problems and have a simple fix right?

Not so simple my friend. Our (prarie regions) entire economy is based on agricultural production, research, and potash production. Big business such as Monsanto etc. practically OWNS the gov'ts and it's regulatory bodies. It's kind of difficult to get the REAL truth when top executives at these GMO companies are the same ones tasked with overseeing the regulations. You obviously don't know politics.

ETA; when these companies corner the research and development markets, and have much greater lobbying power than a lowly research team at some University, nothing is done to identify or rectify the issue.

It's really vitamin supplements, not shooting drugs.

I moved to a more rural area, and that has helped a great deal. I have thought about moving to a more remote area or overseas. So tired and burnt out from corporate America as well. I camped for 40 days in a wildlife preserve. No head pain, no ear ringing, clarity with concentration, and all without vitamins. It was the best I ever felt in my life. It's funny in the video, they ask "Why do you feel better when you go outside?"

Yeah, I just use plain sugar and bottled water [our tap water is heavily treated]].
The Hummingbirds that come are icing on the cake.

Are there any "vitamins" I can add to help them more?

This is a good thread, thank you.
I have a couple friends who keep bee's, and they have been having problems with them. If anything I would encourage people who have the backyard space to start their own hive(s), to help with this problem.
Plus there are a lot of benefits from having one. Even a small one does not take up much space and is good
for the local environment.

We buy our bees from Purvis....first hand info not hearsay (they are being forced out of business and wont sell any more queens just consultation services).

Right, but Monsanto doesn't own the world. The best bet is to get it banned in other nations and have the tidal wave hit our shores if our political system is to sold out to step in.

Sad really. USA used to lead in many things...now our best bet is to wait for elsewhere and maybe we will be influenced.

But the issue then is what can even be sensibly done? If you ban GMOs, the corporatists will be screaming that the government is trying to take over our food and go all socialist on the people, etc...

On one hand, I am happy it is seemingly a simple fix and the science is coming forward more and more.

On the other hand, I think it would be easier to change the revolution of the earth around the sun than to attack a mega corporation in the west.

My guess is microwave transmission towers. These people make so much money the can pay to keep a lid on it. Possible the answer to Autism, Alzheimer's and Depression amongst other things.

1. Only commercial bees are affected. Wild bees are doing just fine.
2. The problem stems from too many self-righteous, natural foods focused people wanting designer honey and "naturally fertilized" plant products, which put a strain on the natural systems.
3. The problem is a result of poor bee management -- splitting and mixing hives to meet the increased bee rental demand (yeah, bee rental), feeding them sugar water instead of just allowing them to get their own from flowers, allowing parasites to spread between hives.

Research it.

On the other hand, just forget it. Just have a knee-jerk reaction and blame "mankind" or the "government" or whoever.
