Militants in Iraq say they have taken hostage a Polish woman and are demanding that Poland withdraw all its troops from the country. Footage showing a woman was passed to the al-Jazeera television network by a group calling itself the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Fundamentalist Brigades. The woman in the video has yet to be named.

Defence Minister Jerzy Szmajdzinski told a Polish television channel he could not verify the kidnap report but no soldiers were missing.

He rejected demands for the withdrawal of Poland's 2,500 troops from Iraq, saying: "Poland is not in the business of meeting demands of hostage takers."

Iraqi interior ministry spokesman Adnan Abdul Rahman told the Associated Press the woman was a long-standing Iraq resident, with Iraqi citizenship, who had been abducted from her Baghdad home on Wednesday night.

He did not release her name and her voice was not audible on the tape.

In the video two masked gunmen are shown pointing a pistol at a middle-aged woman. It comes a day after a new video appeal by hostage Margaret Hassan, in which she pleads for UK troops to leave Iraq.

Could this be the terrorists new way of getting armed forces out of their homeland? It's now working this time.

That statement sounds really sarcastic!

Right, these thick headed kidnappers see if you can spot the pattern here...

America isnt going to withdraw their troops
United Kingdom isnt going to withdraw their troops
Japan isnt going to withdraw their troops

Poland says they will not withdraw their troops.

You see the pattern here you stupid beasts!

One solution to this, if you were born in any other country than Iraq, get the hell out of Iraq, its that god damn simple.

This is sad, but not unexpected. Remember who these people are and what their doing this for.

They finally figured out that the coallition forces wouldn't respond to male hostages, so they have begun the process of kidnapping women. Once they figure out that this isn't going to work, children will be next.

Wait and see.

Thats almost exactly what i said when the british/iraqi woman got taken hostage, so we now have 2 women hostages, im sure the brit Hassan had a 48 hour deadline given to the british government?

But its different this timei think the british media is playing it down more than when Bigley got taken hostage because this time this hostage is actually more of an Iraqi than she is british so the terrorists are very stupid with this one as she is an Iraqi like them.

God hope it isnt children next, if any of these women get beheaded then this is an entirely different ball game, one rule no women and no kids.

Im sure the special forces are on their tails, hopefully!
