In this study the achievement of fighter-pilot aces (measured as the number of victories) is compared to their fame (measured as the number of Google hits). It turned out that the fame growth exponentially with achivement, leading to its unfair distribution. Manfred von Richthofen, commands 27% of the search hits for all the aces in the study, though he’s only responsible for 1.6% of all the downed planes.

Are you assuming the ratio of fame to achievement must be linear? Why?

If the fame is fair the relation must be linear.

Perhaps, one should be surprised that there is any correlation between fame and achievement at all.
