To me it looks like forgot to load the first round into the barrel and by the time he did it security is all over him.

I don't think he looked unusual at all. That's what people look like when they're on the floor taking a beating by a gang of people, you have that look of confusion and distress about you when you don't know where the next blow is coming from.

I read that and have a question. We know the gun was a gas gun, but could it be tampered with to work with bullets? Lots of replicas get turned into fairly functional firearms that shoot real bullets.

We know it was a gas gun, but do we know if it had been modified?

Because they also found 2 knives on him, so that doesn't add up. If he was just trying to shoot the man with tear gas then why the knives?

hopefully my question makes some sort of sense.

We're talking skin burns or damage to the eye, since it's basically at point blank range, as a worst case scenario.

AFAIK attempted murder charge has been dropped, it's now hooliganism.

But still, why the knives? The western media reported he had 2 knives on him, is this not right? In which case, if it is right, surely hooliganism doesn't fit whatever his intentions are. I do not get the bit about him having knives. To me that suggests an intention of more than hooliganism, given the circumstances

Bulgaria is run pretty much by the mafia. It's a dangerous country and soon they will be able to move freely to the UK, when they gain EU membership. Can't wait for the influx of people like this to swarm in.

I totally agree that this was a staged event. This is mainly just a gut feeling, although I know this is something that this particular person would not hesitate to do if he thought it would help him in furthering his goals. I like how the guy looked like a stereotypical post-USSR/Eastern Bloc gangster. He obviously was not a very good assassin if this was real, considering he would never have gotten away had he succeeded. And if he was THAT fanatical in whatever his beliefs are, then instead of running away, he would have started beating the man with that gun. One would think at least, lol.

Love it how the evening news called this an assacination attempt, just after telling us it was an gas gun, and couldn't do any real harm. The security should be fined, they were literally trying to stomp his head AFTER he was thrown on the ground.

He clearly was making some sort of protest, be it security, or telling people he doesn't like the politician, he wasn't trying to kill the man. He should be charged with something, but fcertainly not attempted murder, those security guards should be charged with a larger crime than him. I'm not saying what he did was right, but I am saying that what one (or two) of the security guards did was worse than what he did. Most of the security was good though, a bit slow, but they did get him on the ground.

the guys used a gas pistol for gods sake, a non lethal weapon that send shockwaves of air which SHOCKS its victims, the worst case scenario is the guy getting his air drums broken for a few days.

Had it been a real assassination attempt the target would be very dead.
I lived in Sofia for a while in 2001-2002. Bombings and assassinations were fact of life.
One night a bomb went off a block from my apartment. The target was a hardware store.
Guess the owner didn't pay his "Rent" money.
Eastern Europe is a rough place.
On the other hand the common people I meet were very nice.

Bulgaria is not run by the mafia, those are just the buffer and the people that get news coverage and get harassed and sacked once in a while to send some statistics over to the EU, which by the way we have been a member of for about 5 years now.

The real puppeteers are ex-communist secret police, state security and military officers who infiltrated and controled crime and set up major power structures which took over entire economic and administrative branches. Every once in a while a journalist vaguely covers this fact and is killed within months or a couple of years at the most.

The thing is they are basically split in an opposition - one branch serves US and in general western interests, the other Russian ones. They have certain gray areas of cooperation, where they don't mess with each other's business, but it is quite obvious that we are still a buffer for geopolitical interests.

The major powers deny the possibility of an intellectual and political independant elite as to control our internal and foreign policy easier. For example our priminister was an amphetamine industrialist (as was acknowledged to some extent by Wikileaks), he was a fireman by education, a karate champion and bodyguard of the Communist era leader Todor Zhivkov and later on of priminister Simeon Sax-Cobourgh-Gotha (that family ring a bell?) (Edit note: Fathom that for a moment, if you will.. when's the last time any civilizied nation had a fireman, karate champion, bodyguard involved in organized crime as the head of the nation?)

Then he quickly went up the ranks of the police force, became the mayor of the capital and then the priminister and leader of the current party.

One of the first attempts to discredit the priminister by the Socialist party, once he was elected into office, was to confront him about having training with and accepting "political narrative" by the CIA. He admited both and said there was no alternative in terms of political narrative.

But that's enough of a cultural diversity lesson for now, I just thought putting things into context might help a bit to understand the dynamics of how things happen here

Anyway, although Bulgaria has been one of the most peaceful Balkan countries in terms of ethnic peace, there have been some clashes and the tendency is for political powers to use ethnic tensions as a tool, which can bring dire consequences for Bulgaria as well as the Balkans in general.

I think the incident covered here was a brilliant example of that and we can expect more similar occurrences in the future.

I think it was a clean staging. Although there are chances that its not. No one likes Dogan except the turks.....
