Just a technical note about the subject.

Most of web is consisted by deep web. Corporate/business/educational intranet, personal websites/forum, exclusive paid content sites of any kind is by definition is deep web. IF it is not indexed (aka public acessible) by search engines = deep web.

Hmmmm, I never thought of it that way, dark as in bad. I always thought of it as dark, as in not easily seen.

True indeed, like the mil has their siper and niper net and good luck getting onto a DoD server with a typical commercial host.

It's actually not that easy, maybe for the kid sites it's easy to find and google that fake stuff that cops set up.. Obviously you've never actually been in the "deep webb" if you think it takes just 30 min to find the real stuff.. If it was so easy do you not think hitmans and people like that would be that stupid.. Google wont find you nadda..I'd like you to find ANON in 30 min, the real # with the real people for one example. I doubt you could easily.. Most this real stuff is deep, it's none of that kid stuff, there a lot of fake bull# out there to fool people..question is, are you the fool or what.

The two easiest ways people probably find out about TOR is pastebin, and the chans. A lot of the infosec type places discuss TOR as well.

For anyone who is on there, I'm hearing that you can get access to all books, all music, all movies, all tv shows, pretty much ever in good quality.

For educational purposes, what's the state of sports games available. Just how thorough is this tor thing? If i wanted to get a round 2 super 12 rugby game from 2002, I'd find it on there, even though it doesn't exist on the surface internet. Or is that asking too much?

make sense, but you don't need tor to reach the dark web. =)

I put blame on banks and corrupt governments that only want their fiat money to be used - and if you want drugs, TPTB want you to get them from Big Pharma.

I don't condone child pornography, animal abuse and the sale of weapons online but...who is really to blame?

People are so sick of being told what to do. It just causes more corrupt behavior. Hence the use of a secret online currency and Tor servers.

I don't understand why the parent of this kid would even waste his time writing a letter. This kinda underground stuff has gone on so long, and I don't see it stopping anytime soon.

First I've never actually read much about the "darkweb"...I knew of it, but was never interested as I always thought it was just a bunch of random pedos and sickos...But seeing as there is more to it than that, I'm now going to have to see what other stuff is on it. I'm intrigued by what kind of books and other non mainstream things are actually out there, begging to be found...Just really don't wanna stumble onto the beyond disturbing categories...

This should have its own thread with instructions. I cant see the government(s) allowing the web to continue. Its way too powerful for any pretend democracy to feel comfortable.

If they really wanted to arrest and stop child pornography, which they obviously don't want to, they should start arresting people using the underworld currency to purchase unlawful and immoral things.

If I understand correctly, bitcoins are designed to be pretty hard to track. Beyond that, the "darkweb" and its denizens go there for the increased anonymity -- it's much harder to find out who they are and where they are.

Even if there are secret tracing protocols in place that allow that, the people buying these things are small fry; the governments would want to be going after the people SELLING them. To even produce that kind of filth, they have to be pretty resourceful and have money laundering out the wazoo. So you have to lay down a wire. Seek your way up to the big fish.

Who knows.... That iceberg could be Leviathan's air conditioner.

It couldn't have its own thread, because it could easily be construed as encouraging something illegal. As people are saying, you don't need much google-fu to get started, at least.

Grab the TOR browser bundle, this is a good place to start: google "TOR wiki pastebin", seems pastebin links get messed up here lol.
Keep in mind, browsing TOR will probably be a lot slower than you are used to.

A friendly reminder to curious folks:

There are quite a few forums that are banning people just for typing in the word "bitcoin". I don't think that's fair. People should be able to do whatever they want...just don't abuse or exploit children and animals. I am very open minded but I will not tolerate online child exploitations or violence.

I just don't see how he could have accidentally accessed anything using Tor. I have to know exactly where I'm going, and it is soooooo sloooooow

I use Tor on my laptop and I have never ventured into anything other than my usual places. My kids use Tor, one of them told me about it,
