"We are social democracy governed under a republic"

People keep getting their terms mixed up and confused.

A republic by definition is a democracy, it is not two different systems. They cannot be separated. If the government does not represent the public it is not a republic.

Just like if the workers don't own the means of production it is not socialism. The US is not a social democracy

Social democracy is a political ideology that considers itself to be a form of reformist democratic socialism.[1] It advocates for a peaceful, evolutionary transition of society from capitalism to socialism.[2]

Social democracy

The US economy is capitalist and will remain that way until people wake up and change it.

Ever heard of social security, Medicaid, Medicare, or the hundreds of other social program we have?

So you're saying that the country has become like those old westerns, where everyone in town carries a firearm so that they can protect themselves from outlaws? Is that your view of it? Didn't we escape from that scenario by having police departments run by citizens in our towns and neighborhoods?

Problem is I have never met a police officer I could carry in my pocket. But I can carry a gun in my pocket. Police respond after a crime has been committed they are rarely there to prevent one.

So you also have the view that I mentioned above, like the old westerns?

As far as I know crime did not go away after the west was won so as far as I am concerned neither should the guns. If people want to live in a nanny state they should move to Australia where they have implemented such a policy but be forewarned that even though it is an island they still have crime and guns only they are in the hands of criminals and not the law abiding citizens. They are well under way to banning the sidewalks in fear of stubbing their toes. Their crime rate is higher than in the US as well but if that is the type of country you want why waste your time trying to change this one you should just move there.

I will stay here in the US and face reality you can move there and live in the illusion of safety.

Thank you.
But I'm pro-second amendment also, which is why I question the reasons why others are. I don't believe that many people want firearms for the reasons contained in the amendment. I believe that there is something very suspicious about the incredible outcry against gun-control.
Since we're all human beings, all around the world, then why is it that there is no reaction to this government (which the second amendment anticipates may become against it's citizens) when it sets it's military against other human beings? I think there is more to the outcry than I first imagined.

How are the other people in the store supposed to know whether he's a loon, one oar short of a pair, ten seconds away from having a very bad day or what? We're just supposed to trust his demeanor will continue to be 'non-threatening' while he's got an F'in BATTLE WEAPON strung over his shoulder?

Add a couple more 'concealed carries' into this mix, and you have a Mexican standoff.

Great for business. I wonder what J.C. Penney's thinks.

If more people did this, RESPONSIBLY, we'd have decreased chances of public shootings occurring.

I say good for him, he is exercising his right and I'm sure he gets some funny questions posed to him. People need to be snapped back into the mentality that man SHOULD master his weapon, no matter what it is.

I'm not American and I actually support Americans right to their second amendment.

But what person needs a rifle, spare clips and a handgun while going to the shops?

Morons and someone looking to go on a killing spree.

I'm open to other suggestions though...

Well why would I just move to another country when the one I was born to can be changed? Also, why would you call a country whose citizens would appreciate other citizens in the position of upholding the laws of this country, a "nanny State"? It implies we are infants instead of mature adults. I don't see how not having a firearm is infantile. I've gone my whole life without one(I'm 36). Are you just scared of people in general?

I'm willing to bet that on most people......

So gun to the back of this guys head while taking his gun and telling him to get on the ground
or do you think he can swing round and aim before his brains are leaving his skull?

I guess you missed where I posted this earlier in the thread.

BTW did everyone know that Australia has also banned BB guns, Paintball guns, cross bows, Blow guns, Potato cannons, sling shots, double edged knives, fireworks, just about all Ninja crap like knum Chucks, some squirt guns, some video games, literature, web sites, and movies, also laser pointers you can go to prison for 2 years with a 10K fine, and the one I really don’t understand Yo-Yo’s of a certain type. That isn’t a joke. If there was ever a case to be made for banning guns being a slippery slope then Australia takes the cake. There is actually some calling to ban boomerangs there as well. Here is a thread on it. It is worth a good laugh so check it out.
www.abovetopsecret.com...

That is a nanny state. I guess I will just break the news to you now but if you got your hopes up about banning guns in the US I can tell you now it’s not going happen at least not in my lifetime so you should save your breath and pack your bags because Australia sounds like it is your kind of place.

Right wing conservatives are not doing enough to secure their image as the American Taliban. Sure they hate women and gays and foreigners, and feel there is a war against their religion... but this is definitely a much needed next step... walking around with assault rifles like little militant thug douche bags. Soon their journey to the douche side will be complete.

After reading this thread, it disgusts me how many Americans are afraid of someone exorcizing their legal right to carry. NM is an open carry state and I carry along with others. Here you can't carry in banks, schools, courts, and liquor establishments. It's a matter of choice. People are so brainwashed and afraid of someone who did nothing wrong. I've read the "he could have...." posts. There's nothing stopping anyone from doing anything if they put their mind to it. I'm sure one of the shoppers could have killed someone with their car keys if they were so inclined, should we consider that angle? American citizens need to become familiar with the laws and stop being such candy-asses about things. Yeah guns are deadly weapons, so are the leatherman multi tools that many people carry on their belts, should we ban those? Lastly, JESUS CHRIST!! It is NOT an ASSAULT RIFLE. It is a semi automatic gas blowback operated modern rifle. 'Assault rifle" is one of those buzz words that has been co-opted to fit an agenda. Assault weapons are simply put, Military Grade Machine guns, end of discussion.

#1 is "Battle Weapon" the new Assault weapon?
Just call it a death ray whydontcha! Nope, soul stealer...all semi auto's will now be called "Soul Stealers"

Please find one instance in american history where there has been a "Mexican Standoff" with CCW Permit holders that actually occurred outside of the hypothetical situation that you've set up in your head?

How do you know the officer that pulled you over doesn't shoot you immediately? How do you know the person that waved you across the street doesn't jam on the gas and mow you down in the middle of the street? What are you really afraid of? You trust that the person driving 60mph 24 inches away from you wont bump you into on-coming traffic , but someone with a firearm scares you?

Irrational fears are irrational...

I love hypothetical situations as much as the next person but there are good ones and bad ones and I think that is a bad one but it’s OK because I will play along and keep it at the same level of thought as yours.

How do you know that guy isn’t like Chuck Norris so maybe he can swing around or maybe he has a titanium plate in the back of his head and doesn’t need to worry. Both scenarios are just as valid as yours and about as probable.

We should probably just stick to the facts where nothing like that happened.

#1 It's a "MAGAZINE" not a "CLIP"

#2 we all know "You Don't Need" is a thinly veiled "I don't wan't you to have"

#3 Don't worry about our country, revel in the fact that your country has effectively banned firearms from citizens to use for self defense and the fact that you now have a 0% Murder rate....oh wait

Fine, magazine.

And you must of missed the part where I said I support the second amendment?

So what reason does one need so much ammunition to go shopping?

Self defense?
Small penis?

This guy is just exercising his right to be a dick. Let's face it. He expects no danger. He likes turning heads. Look at him. Nobody wants that guy next them in line. Total dick move.

I think this guy should have the right to own these guns. But doesn't change the fact that this is a childish dick move. What an ignorant douche.

I respect the right, just like freedom of speech, but just like free speech, some people can use it for dick moves, and this is one such case.
