Well my beloved little car I have had for past 5 years and had never let me down is going to cost me another £135 for a years road tax we have to pay here in the UK every year.

You have a road tax? We pay a registration every year and that is it. On my Mustang it was about $50, not sure what it will be on this car. It is based on size of car and weight. If you don't have it registered you get your license suspended and you can get pulled over and even arrested.

If we don't we can get a heavy fine plus the car is not legal to drive on the road. I had a big fancy car before this one and all my others were a head turner but I thought what do I need in a car when I wanted one to replace my last one.

Besides your road tax do you pay a registration? Or is that like our registration here in the states? I never had a fancy car lol this IS the fanciest car I've ever had.

It had to have a sunroof that I can open, a small engine to save on the petrol costs and insurance costs, room in the back for my collie as you can see by my sig and also cheap.

I was looking for good gas, more room than my Mustang and a good price. I wasn't picky on extras. I did require a CD player though, that I wasn't going without. My dog fits in this car just fine and he can actually see out the window more now. The Mustang was too low so he barely got out the window, now he can stick his head out fully. He loves it!

I almost gave up looking when I saw one parked outside a house with a for sale sign on it and it was just the one I was looking for.

Yup when you least expect it! I wasn't looking for a PT at all. I stopped to see a Nissan they had out front lol.

After a test drive etc i bought it outright for cash and it had a full years mot and 6 months road tax on it and that was 5 years ago. Only thing I bought was a new battery in all that time because when I bought it the old one was past its best.

That is great for 5yrs! Sounds like my Mustang. I did put in a new clutch and tires when I bought it 5yrs ago and a battery about 2yrs ago. Other than that I did nothing to my Mustang besides regular maintenance like oil changes. It's 15yrs old now and still going. It will now sit in storage and become a classic in 20yrs lol

I will run it until it starts to give me trouble and so far I have been lucky.

I had an Escort, my first car, and I kept that car til it had 285k and the head gasket went! I will keep a car til I have to get a new one.

Hope it lasts you a long time!

Well, strangely enough my last car was an escort and had to scrap it because someone broke into it to steal the CD player but used a tire iron to bend the door right out so that he could get in! If he had just smashed the window I could have replaced it but it would have cost more to get it fixed etc than my insurance was willing to pay so I just bought the one I have. That car was about 7 years old so that's why it wasn't worth much but it was still my pride and joy.
We don't pay registration, only car tax, insurance and we have to get what is called an M.O.T once a year which is just a check to see if the car is roadworthy and if not it has to be fixed or police will pull you over and a big fine plus points on your licence will,be the outcome.
My dog used to love putting his head out the window but this is one I removed the back seats so that he has more room to move around and we just use it for ourselves plus it is easy to put them back on if needed.
I recently bought a new stereo for the car which has a radio, CD player plus it plays music on a USB flash drive which is what I wanted when I went for one as old one was way past its best. It makes a huge difference to play my music and a USB can hold dozens and dozens of albums on it.
It's not in the same condition as when I bought it, has a few bumps and scrapes that come with driving, I never made the bumps though? Lol
But it's paid for and it's mine so I like it and my wife and dog love it so at least we haven't got any monthly payments to fork out all the time anyway.
Meant to say, this car had about 90,000 on the clock and has about 125,000 on it now and cruises at 70mph no problem at all and can go at 100 mph when I sometimes forget he he

I would have gotten the truck instead. This way you can put the screaming kids in the back of it and if they happen to jump around and fall out..Well, chit happens...

J/k

I personally wouldn't have gone with a PT Cruiser. But okay, it's your baby. Glad you got a good deal on it, nice color and nice car.

Hubby was pleased with a so-called good deal he got recently. He got rid of our beautiful 2010 Hemi Challenger and brought home one of the better models/faster and such Mustang. Ugh....I wish I had been with him that day. I've always been a Mopar person and good deal or not, I'd rather have the hemi. He felt like because it was a 2013 and already on the lot and the color was gun metal gray metallic that it worked out o.k. A nice candy apple red metallic would have been special order and cost more he says and taken a while to arrive too.

The hemi got wrecked somewhat on our move back from Wyoming to Louisiana but I feel like if not for that, we woulda kept it but little stuff seemed to start going wrong with it. Shucks. Oh well.

Candy Apple Red would have been awesome but they are cop magnets in that color lol The gray is a nice color too! I have ever had a Hemi. The Challenger is a pretty sweet car. I love all the old muscle style cars coming back with a remodel.

Oh that sucks. The only reason I had to get a car was because I got hit by a drunk driver last year in my fiancees car, Altima. It was totaled. If that had not happened we'd have a back up car and I wouldn't have had to spend all the money I had in the world on this car but it went to a good cause so it's not a waste. I like this car and it will be safer for me and the baby. The Mustang is just too small inside. I can barely get groceries out of the back lol let alone a car seat!

Give your Mustang a chance, you just might love it

I like trucks but they are a little too big for me lol. I have always liked the Ford Explorer Sport Track though, which I know most don't consider a truck but it was one I could reach the peddle on and see over the steering wheel!

It's all your fault, now you have me looking at a sweet truck with a sweet deal to go along. I'm about ready to sell my car to carmax to get this truck. Going tomorrow for a test drive.

oh congrats!! Looks great..functional and stylish

It pays to do your homework... I paid cash for my car and I got it 6K cheaper

nissan 350z roadster

I hate it that People suggest it is the poor mans porche.. lol
I wouldn't pay 100+K for any car, I would expect to live in it for that price...

anyway, I did look at the car you have bought for a while...thinking...oh I like that.. might get one... but didn't.
have fun !!

Glad to hear from you an I liked your comments. I am starting to like the Mustang...it was mostly the color that threw me.
Boy, Know what idea I got that made it all better for me?...got chrome cobra thingys for the car and put them on all 4 sides of it and a large black Cobra decal on the hood. Against the gray color, it all turned out to really "doll it up" just right.

You know, hubby said the same thing...he liked the grayish color idea as he didn't want the car to be a cop magnet. Cool...his exact words! That is so wild.

I've had health issues lately so haven't driven it yet. I bet I'll be pleased when I get to it.

Thanx again for commenting to me. I hope you have the best of luck and enjoy your new ride and sending you the best of regards and congrats on all that is new and going on in your life. I think I remember you mentioned a new lil one on the way. That's wonderful. Blessings, and all good things to you! Hugs from shrevegal.

I test drove the Dodge Ram and boy did I have a hard time seeing over the dash board. My car is more comfortable. If I drove that truck everyday I would be having back pains up the wazoo. No way to get comfortable with that truck. Oh well, it was a nice dream while it lasted.
