Did a search, saw no related threads.
4 Bald Eagles shot and killed. Granite Falls WA
Maybe I missed the name of the lake, but they were found floating in a lake with .22 bullet shots. Some of the local Native American tribes are chipping in for a reward, $13k.
So if you kill one Bald Eagle, you get a $1,000 fine and 90 days in jail. Since this was clearly target practice, or shoot, kill and sell on the black market. Shouldn't the punishment be more severe?

Did some more looking around, 3 shot, not 4 this link has images of the birds.

Yes absolutely. A good dragging behind a jeep before prison would be good. This is tragic.

I think they should make the punishment more severe, to keep people from trying to kill anything on the endangered list. This is sad news to hear when beautiful creatures like this are killed.....

Fine them, jail them...Absolutely, but most of all....Have them serve in a program that will educated them about the Bald Eagle. Have the idiot serve 5 years of mandatory volonteer work with a program that protect Bald Eagles. 8 hours a day, 7 days a week for 5 years.

To stay legal, they should have just stomped on the eggs, back when they are only considered potential eagles

Very sad someone would shoot a Bald Eagle. Whether the Bald Eagle is on the endangered list or not, it is abhorrible to kill one intentionally. That said...

The peculiar thing I found with this article is it stated; "appeared to be victims of a poacher" , "the birds were killed with a small-caliber rifle" and "they fell into the lake".

This of course could all be because a reporter chose the incorrect wording for the article.

Great - more reckless gun activity.
I do hope the shooter/s get caught and punished.
