Since the British formally surrendered I will argue that any pledge of the English Colonies by the Crown to the Pope are null and void....If the Vatican had a problem with that then they could have sent over a company of Swiss Guards and then that would have settled it.

i can agree with that.

overall, i think it comes down to public opinion.
whatever claim the PTB think that they may hold on us isn't really valid if we are not told about it.
technically the us constitution is no longer the law of the land but you still see lawmakers using it .
