I can't imagine, but I don't think I would be as happy as I am to live here, that's for sure.

Well if you use Canada as your Yardstick then I guess it would be much the same as there. In my opinion Canada is probably a much more pleasant place to live than the USA anyway so it wouldn't have been such a bad thing. I don't expect patriotic Americans to think that way though of course.

I'm sure my family would have stayed in Spain then. And I would have been a spanish citizen.

I'm guessing there might be a lot more Indians around. But who knows--any other country probably would've massacred them just as horribly as the United States did.

We would still be apart of the disgusting British empire, I imagine. It's difficult to imagine that the British would allow America to emancipate the slaves, or war with the South for the Union of States. The British would probably have colonized much of the world as that has been a main feature of their imperialist and Anglo-Saxon superiority agenda, in my prophetic view.

What are you talking about?
We abolished slavery decades before you even had a civil war - 1807 in fact.
Also, why was the British Empire disgusting? I hear it a lot on here but the simple facts remain that (as far as empires go) the British Empire was pretty benign. The official policy was working alongside the local populace rather than replacing it - we are a small nation so never thought it would possible to settle somewhere and establish trade, etc, without the consent of the locals.
We didn't send huge armies over to conquer new land like many empires do.........
I know British governments over the years have been responsible for some horrible acts but lets have an honest assessment of facts, eh?
