When this gets released will it finally lay all questions about what happened on 12/14/2012 to rest? I hope so.

I'll be waiting patiently...

The MSM is responsible for the questions that people have about what transpired.

It also did not help that certain "witnesses" changed their story so many times. I can't wait for this report.

As I recall, people waited patiently for the Warren Commission report, and the 9/11 Commission report, and were sorely disappointed by both. A huge waste of paper.

I cannot imagine how this will be any different. It would be nice if the news media would do their own investigations, rather than wait to be told by the government what to report on.

I hope I'm not disappointed in it. Kids are involved and this story has played on peoples emotions.

I'd say this report ought to answer most of the fundamental questions. This isn't Kennedy or 9/11 and the insistence of some to raise this tragedy to that level of conspiracy is why we're waiting so long for it to release with those basic things like warrant and inventory sheets.

A retired detective friend of mine up in that general area of the country had some interesting things to add to the thoughts on this though. He's been in a couple high profile/high poilitics cases to see how this works from the inside at times.

First, the obvious point of most cops, medics, firemen and others being Family men themselves. Most have kids themselves. This was a horror beyond most first responder's worst nightmares. You'll ALWAYS hear such people describe the child cases as the worst..as least I always have. This was the worst x20. No one who worked this case is going to let things be covered up, IMO. Cops will throw whole careers over a case like this one to see justice done to the extent it can be ..with a dead perpetrator.

The more important point he made though is ..March is soon enough and yet, long enough for the important stuff to be done. I.E...the POLITICAL gains this is being exploited for in gun control will be a done deal by the time the details of the case being used as the basis are known.

it's kinda like Columbine. Anti-Gunners STILL point to that in total ignorance as being a major gun related incident. It's almost entirely lost in the details and propaganda today that those 2 built and deployed or were in the process of building 99 BOMBS...and guns were just the follow-up if they'd been successful. Time ...it makes the difference for how something is remembered, regardless of what really happened.

We'll get the truth, I believe. It'll just be coming too far after the events done in the name of this event to matter or help.

a quality investigation on this matter would restore much faith in 'the government'!

Personally, I think that a mandatory "waiting period" be instituted for the LEGISLATURE until after an official report is out on any tragedy that has the potential to change laws. If a tragedy like Sandy Hook happens, then the legislature would be bound to wait until the official report comes out before discussing and/or drafting/passing new legislation to address "the problem".

Heck, if a mandatory waiting (i.e. cooling off) period is needed in some states for buying a gun, then I think the legislature could wait until the official report is out to address a "solution". After all, putting a solution together when you don't even have all the details of the problem is simply a knee-jerk emotional response, and has the potential to make the matter even worse in the future.

I couldn't help but notice how the MSM were unequivocally and solely responsible for such sloppy reporting. They were all so QUICK to jump on board this piece that they interviewed anyone who was willing to speak.

And if you put 10 people in a room...showed them something horrific while they're brains were trying to process it....odds are you'll get 10 different impression. So having conflicting reports is natural seeing Humans don't know how to control their raw emotions.

So the conspiracy theorists need to stop propagating misunderstood propaganda and peddling as some 'staged event'.
I am already embarrassed of this government (not because of this) but now must I be ashamed at some of my countrymen too?

One of the things I have always said is the cters should wait until the official report comes out. The msm is vilified here on ats, as it should be... yet these cters rely on msm reports to concoct their theories. Never made any sense to me.

This is so true! I told my husband it has to be one of the biggest disconnects on here.

I've noticed that people will complain about how unethical and sloppy the MSM is in one thread, and then another use that same bad info to prove their theory. Makes my head spin!

As for the report, I will read it hoping to understand what happened that day. I'm afraid tho that so many crazy theories have gotten a foothold, people will just not believe anything the report states.

They gotta pass all their regulations and laws before the media led confusion wears off on the general public.

EX: Lanza didn't even have an assault weapon on his person, yet that was the straw that broke the camels back when it came to regulating assault weapons.

The report will only have validity if they include the statements of ALL the eyewitnesses. If they are not in there, you can assume the fix is in.

You mentioned "witnesses" changing their stories.... in the real world witnesses change their stories routinely. Hell, you can have a tresspassing come through court and youll get witness and victim story changes often. There are all kinds of people out there - honest people and drama queens/liars/attention whores can be witnesses and victims too. Changes can be honest changes as well. People sometimes feel pressurred or actually are pressured to answer questions they dont know the answer to in a tense situation... some simply tell folks what they want to hear.

If you all want to tear this apart, at least understand how the real world and real people work.. and whats common in stories as high profile as this down to your local dog at large call.

When you all start making all of these weird claims that others here know the truth concerning... you become the kooky CT person we are hearing so much about... and threads disappear. Part of denying ignorance is knowing what youre talking about and if you dont, finding it out by research or asking sound questions. It seems like a lot of newer ATSers are making a story in their heads and finding evidence, regardless of how spurious, to make it fit into their "theory".

Not ranting, just hoping like hell we can have some more sensible conversations here concerning this as some things truly are questionable. The official story will be the thing you can tear apart... and learn from.

No doubt.
Id HOPE that cops there knew the difference between an assault rife and a handgun... since the media and out government doesnt seem to.

Yes.. I heard that "confusion".
Im really interested to know what the official reports are concerning that.. and what ME said what. Im sure ... or well Id hope.. that for a case like this and the load they would call in a real ME and have a forensic "team" since the FBI et al was involved. Here we finally joined the 21st century and got a guy who at least has a forensic background to be our coroner.
Used to be, we'd have a higher profile case and our guy would give his testimony.. then the defense would get a real ME from St Louis and decimate him. Our "official stories" were pretty sad concerning the procedural aspects and were duly torn to shreds in court at tmes. Plus, you never know which ME they put in front of the camera.. the one who did the main autopsies, the assitant, the one who did the less involved autopsies according to experience, some MEs will do one part of the autopsy and one will do the other part , or the one who fits more easily under the bus...

As far as I know, there is only one, single report out there, from the day after the shooting, that claims it was only handguns.

Hardly makes that the official position.

You got to hand it to the BATFE for being "johnny on the spot" and getting to Sandy Hook in time to escort children and parents off of the school grounds.
