The Onion has fooled all of us at least once or twice. Usually all about satire, the Onion has taken to sometimes coming up with something to make you think.

This is one of those moments.

See the rest here.

No explanation, no sermon or scolding from the editors or photographers. Just photographs and captions.

Let this make you think about how our culture rewards abundance and greed, while others starve.

I am guessing this is some kind of mistake made by whoever runs the website?

Sad, actually.

But don't worry.

A movie based on a true story always sits better with the public.

Maybe the Onion deserves an Oscar?

I think you misunderstood the entire point of the Onion's piece.

That's ok though, a lot of people have a hard time with veiled social commentary.

It's not about American intervening, it's about setting your priorities as to what is important in your media. The golden globes should carry far less weight then a gun legislation debate, or an international crisis that your country was involved in.

veiled social commentary

Isn't that just code either

a, being so pretentious and talking in codes like a 7 year old.

or

b, not having the balls to come out and say what you really think because it might offend

If you can justify your commentary, then the person it offends is wrong. If you have to hide or disguise it. Then it's bet not said.

I understand what you are saying but perhaps you are unfamiliar with The Onion. All of their material is veiled that way. Its not a matter of hiding it out of fear of offending someone. It's hidden because it mocks the everyday media with its own style.

I'ts funny I saw it on the onion and was like, well this is strange. It took me a few moments to grasp what was going on.

You have to be a bit intelligent to understand sarcasm, that's why you can't find any on t.v.
