Why? Not because I have a stake in the outcome... but because I feel many people simply have to understand something which many (apparently) take for granted...

from the moment this event went "national" media reported on ANYTHING... every rumor, every half-assed speculation, every something or other overheard as officials walked by a media staffer.

THAT is why you never got a straight story... it's because the media's "journalists" now only report what has been sanctioned and accepted by officials as "what the people "should" know" rather than the facts.

Every long arm became a machine gun, every round became an armor piercing explosive tip flechette, the shooter became Hitler and Satan's love child, and anyone involved became the subject of controversy and suspicion. Every passer-by mentioned in police chatter became a potential child murderer...

Now, as the investigation takes place in earnest...the details form the original gore and fear-porn fest don't match. Well, what did you expect? Did you expect the so-called "news" to have any clue about what happened? Did you think they would keep there most eye-catching and inflammatory notions out of circulation?

This is why subsequent to the event the reporting all turned to the devastation and pain of the grieving. There was no more room for risk-free confabulation....

All I ask is that as we discuss this we take heed.... I can almost guarantee there is more we will never know than what we will be 'told' by anyone.

A troubled recluse adolescent boy, utterly broken by the prospect of being committed, snapped and punished his mother and anything she was associated with. He took his pain and spread it around in a bloody massacre.

The Media jumped at the tragedy, and the political cabal "made use" of the tragedy - as they always do.

No conspiracy, no "plan," just media and political opportunistic manipulation of public perception.....

Ummm...You forgot to add that he was probably "medicated" possibly a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor?.......hmmmm? Which begs the question...If there is a link between these shootings and happy pills, why the rash of EA's that will likely push more of these happy pills down more and more throats? Perhaps to increase the percentages? Obviously the experiment's trials were a raging success, so on to full implementation...

I agree that the media went crazy right from the start and reported almost anything anyone's friend's sister's cousin's uncle told them. However, the police have said only believe what they say which is a rifle and 2 handguns near the shooter and 1 and ONLY 1 rifle in the trunk. When the official story is finally told by the police they are not going to back track on any of that. So immediately following that we have 2 questions to be answered for sure. Pete Mitchell from NBC is going to have to explain his FEDERAL AND STATE OFFICIALS comment and produce his sources. Also the police need to explain the VERY OBVIOUS 2nd rifle in the trunk. Those questions are just for starters as there will be many more. I leave open the possibility that almost anything the media reported might be true and then the story got changed or manipulated from there to fit an agenda or "not to let this crisis go to waste". Meanwhile, I have to get going. I just got a message that three armed women teachers shot a guy named Adam Lanza in a classroom. I’m heading over to check it out.

This is dated Dec 17 and so is the Pete Mitchell NBC video I think. 2 stories about maybe 4 handguns. Call me crazy but maybe it's true maybe not.

The assault rifle issues were from the Aurora shooting.

We don't have to just look back at the most recent shooting to get guidance on what responsible gun control should be.


But go ahead, continue to try to pass off these incidents as no big deal and that guns weren't a main contributing factor.

The media has been so quick to 'report' anything they hear, there is a ton of conflicting info. For instance, on the page before I posted a link from Dec 19, from CNN that stated it was a shotgun in the truck.

As for the blog you linked, I think that was dramatic license from the author, what the news would have been if the government didn't stop citizens from having guns. That's how I understood it after reading the blog post.

CNN might be partially right if 1 was a shotgun.

The story has changed about 100 times now.

This is a disinfo exercise from TPTB.... everything will be like this from now on.

I call it the "Casey Anthony method". Lie, obfuscate, tell several DIFFERENT versions and stories, bring in false witnesses, lie some more, blame others, let the media make a circus out of it, and completely muddy up the waters till it's impossible to separate truth from fiction. Voila!! Off scot- free and the public just throws their hands up in defeat.

Whats the matter? all the anti self-defense gun control nuts have too much man pride to admit fault?

All the people talking about the ar15 hoax (when it was really in the trunk) and now evidence shows he was denied buying an ar15 and had to acquire one ILLEGALLY by KILLING his own mother, and now you're quiet?

All some of you do is follow whatever the mainstream media tells you to, follow the same talking points that your precious political party tells you to say.

There was a thread about the shooter's official death certificate being dated one day before the actual shooting took place.

And if all these stories have been fabricated just so THEY have an an excuse to take our guns, then that's even more reason to flip THEM the bird.

This story has gotten legs beyond us ATS members and CTers. Just at work today, I heard a couple of my co-workers talking about this story. Neither is a regular here to my knowledge. When another of my co-workers heard them talking she asked "why would they say it was an AR if it wasn't?". Both ( one a Democrat and one GoP) looked at her and said nearly simultaneously something to the effect of "it's not about protecting children they want to ban guns."

So regardless of the media narrative the nation has been fed, people are believing what they see online more than what they see on TV. I think it might be different if we had an objective MSM instead of an press corps that consists only of the propaganda arm of the whitehouse ( MSNBC, NBC, ABC, NPR and to a lesser extent CNN and CBS) and the loyal opposition (FOX). The roles were reversed in the Bush admin admittedly so please don't mistake my calling those organizations out for partisanship.
