And he also envisioned "Andomida" and others as even farther futures. Imo star treck in on the low end of his best ideas.

That Star Trek is the result of a perfect liberal society(Gene was a Democratic supporter) I can see where some will brand him as a commie just like they've done with the Dixe Chicks, Tim Robbins, Janene Garoffalo, Michael Moore, etc.

If this were Star Trek, would Bush be violating the Prime Directive? What about the Iran Contra?wasn't there an episode where the federation was giving weapons to another planet so they could fight a war?

Gene was a head of his time. The man was brilliant!

He couldn't have been a commie, the guys in the red shirts were always the first to die.

Gene's vision works fine...

However, if you were to seriously discuss the implications of a Star-Trek society...you would find many problems...

Here's just one...

If money meant nothing, and your needs were met, who would they get to take out the trash? Seriously, do you really think somebody is going to go through Starfleet Academy, etc. just to be the janitor of the ten forward lounge?

who dared to imagine that one day the people of planet earth would actually stop killing one another and reach for a common goal; to obtain and maintain a presence among the stars!!

I see nothing socialistic or communistic in this idealism that he so wonderfully depicted in all of the Star Trek series.

I often wondered if this would ever be a possibility, to live in a peaceful and loving society here on Earth? By todays events it would seem like a tremendous pipe dream but who knows, someday we may actually come to this utopian concept.

I see nothing bad or wrong with his ideas, he was truly a visionary and a brilliant futurist.
