I always felt the only way to truly be free is to live in decentralized, small (Amish or Kibbutz-sized), agrarian and trade-based communities with anarchist social policies.

True. If you go back over this thread, you'll see that I compare them to the Amish communities many times in responses.

the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence make it clear that "All men are created equal" and it is understood by all that they meant all humans. There are alot of "patriots" that didnt understand this in regards to minorities and still dont. Sounds like a conservative compound.

I was actually quite enjoying this sparring match we are having overall and think you are actually doing well in giving the flip side of my discussions...so was a bit disappointed in seeing you attack me personally when it was otherwise a lively and good debate...although I can come across as abrasive.

I also went overboard. What happened to one of our adopted children really did(and does) anger me, because it shows how bigoted some entire sections of the country are. I shouldn't have reacted the way I did, but I guess something hit a nerve, and I reacted hastily. I'm sorry.

That's usually what happens when your dope dealers are CIA.

This sounds like a dystopian nightmare waiting to happen.

I wonder how easy it is to get out after you agreed to come in. The requirements alone will more or less lead to everybody being indebted to the community--how can you leave when you're relied on for the continued survival of the community?

This is my worry ^^

Would people, be free to come and go as they please of thier own will? On paper this is an awesome idea, but I think the reality could easily end up being very different from the idea.

If I remember correctly about 40 years ago, people disatisfied with the government tried something similar calling the place Jonestown. They drank the kool aid and if I remember correctly it didn't end too well for all of them.

Not to mention as has already been pointed out you all would end up just being one big target....

Of course they would be free to come and go. Did no one here read the website? I dont know at this point if its real or not, but a quick scan of the FAQ will silence all the tax issues as well. They expect ALL residents to obey ALL state and federal laws. So they will be paying taxes, and many would work outside the walls of the planned community.

But, is it a scam?

see thats the thing, how can a fixed position vulnerable to tanks, artillery, airstrike, you would need any 20 paratroopers from the 101st with enough detchord, c-4, and three squad automatic weapons to play hit and run until either the insiders surrender, die or escape the explosion because if you look at the history of battle, fixed positions this size fall down and hard. if the soetero hits the fan, you gotta dig deep, move fast, and grab the enemy by the belt

Who said anything about peeing on your neighbor's lawn? I'm pretty sure that is not what this is about. It is far more likely that this group is providing an alternative to the Homeowner's Nazi rules being established in urban cities by UN Sustainable Development plans, and when the SHTF in economic and civil collapse, they will be protected by their own people, will have food stores and water and survival stuff.

Starred. I agree wholeheartedly. I live in one of those Nazi HOA neighborhoods, and one of the Nazis came around January 6th, and issued written warnings to anyone with Christmas lights still up, and "gave us" 24 hours to remove them, or they would proceed with legal action. We were never given a list of restrictions when we bought our house, and were merely told that the Association was just to make sure people didn't do things like put 10 pink flamingos on their front lawn. About 2 months after moving in, they sent us the restrictions, which cannot be changed unless 90% of the homeowners agree. We have tried, but you would be surprised how few people give a sh** about the rules, which include no clothes lines, even on your back deck, etc. I have lalked to a lawyer and they said "forget it- your municipality loves the HOA's, since they do the job that the city should be doing.

Reminds me of the Brotherhood of Steel hideout in DC from Fallout 3.

realistically though, I have the feeling that in due time, the whole world will be populated with places like these. Factions will arise once the governments lose power. My theory anyway.

Well how do we know it's true? Some blog says so and you just believe it without any fact checking? What if they are just trying to smear them?

Yes, go ahead and fact check, the dude running the show is a known scammer.

But I guess the thread isn't about that operation but if people should go about this route to stay safe.

I wonder how many undercover FBI are monitoring this group of "Patriots" ?

I'll bet that some "three letter" organization like the DHS already has someone on the board of directors of the Citadel. I agree the "Citadel" sounds like a scam preying on the gullible and frightened listeners of Rush and Savage. There are no secrets!

The KKK wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the FBI members.

It's a brave new world or 1984, where surveillance and monitoring of malcontents is one of the prime directives of our increasingly paranoid government. Big Brother is watching and this very thread could be ruse trying to smoke out malcontents.

And if you think the DHS is just a bunch of stupid bureaucrats; you are in for a rude surprise!

This is an extremely interesting idea. It certainly gives people the opportunity to avoid some of the liberal, socialist trends that are accelerating under the current administration. I'd like to know how many people would consider joining such a community. Furthermore, I'd like to know whether those that are opposed to the current direction of this country, would be willing to help build such a community if one were available in your state?
One of the things that could accelerate such a movement, would be if the free militias of the various states were to endorse and agree to be part of such communities. If such communities were fairly self-sufficient, they could barter and avoid income and sales taxes. In addition, the idea of teaching schools without socialist leanings seems very attractive.
I know that economic issues may make it very hard for many people to join, but theoretically, would you be willing to participate in such an endeavor?
Let's try to keep this free from trolling, personal attacks, and just stick to the issue.
I believe that this is an important idea for a country that most believe is broken, and many believe is so corrupt that free elections are all but impossible.

Questions:

1) How does this fit into the framework of the existing constitution?
and along the same lines
2) What about the sovereignty of the US over the 'purchased' land?

Definition of Sovereignty:

Sovereignty is the quality of having independent authority over a geographic area, such as a territory.[1] It can be found in a power to rule and make laws that rests on a political fact for which no pure legal definition can be provided. In theoretical terms, the idea of "sovereignty", historically, from Socrates to Thomas Hobbes, has always necessitated a moral imperative on the entity exercising it.

Fortunately, there are enough moderators here at ATS that know me personally, and know that I am no shill for the government, It's actually very funny, because if you knew me, you would be laughing at the comment you just made. Go ahead, though and believe what you want, say what you want. I think they haven't shut that down completely yet, but I'm sure they're headed that way.Fear is the greatest power that they have. It worked in Nazi Germany, and it worked in the old USSR. Personally, I spit on their attempt to use fear to shut people down. You do what you wish, but if you don't wish to speak your mind, why speak at all?

I guess you've never watched CNN or MSNBC. If you had, you wouldn't make such a statement, and limit it to conservatives. Both groups believe that the other is nuts, and that is being kind.

I don't see any contradiction with your first point.
However, as to the second point, all you have to do is keep up with the recent rulings of the Supreme Court of Monkeys to see how they have broadened the definition of eminent domain and its application. How would you like to lose your home because someone wants to build a McDonalds there? The government can do that now, according to the Monkeys in their robes.

Right....I'm not even sure that ATS isn't somehow in cahoots with Big Brother. I'm Not surprised that you know some of the moderators personally. I met one as well when she was on vacation. But that doesn't prove anything either.

Trust is earned and I don't trust you....

You are entertaining though....
There...see I'm not afraid to speak my mind, I don't know all the answers and have opinions just like you; no reason to get all snarky because I'm not buying what you are selling.

Oh yes! I just moved out of a place like that. Same thing, Christmas lights had to be off the porch or house by Jan 15. They would cite your property and send notices, and would fine. That was just one thing. They also could limit how many objects you have on your porch, how tall the plants could be, what kind of plants you put in the garden areas, they could cite you for not having enough mulch, for the lawn being too high, for patchy areas of grass not growing properly, or for having non-natural planting materials. Well you couldnt put rocks or gravel, though rocks are natural but they meant you cant put materials that do not biodegrade. No rubber mulches or anything like that, and no edging either. They could cite you for having faded siding too. When repainting the color had to be approved.

Yet when I complained my neighbors were leaving giant metal rods in my yard behind the garage they said they can't help me but I could get it hauled out at my expense.

Oh yah and my neighbors WERE letting their dogs pee on my bushes.
