I can roughly follow what i think your asking science to do, build a really huge
rail gun and fire a probe/spaceship at a black hole, now the thought occurs to
me that even if we were to do that, the closest one we know of is at minimum
hundreds of light years away, now even at near the speed of light, which btw
if current physics is correct the mass of said object we fired at that speed
would be much larger, it would take hundreds of thousands of years to get
there.

Also what purpose would that even have as we do not have a communications
device capable of communicating that far, again the speed of light and since
we will be using current tech then we would be waiting even longer for the
return info from our probe, i really dont see how this idea would be of any
help to this world, heck by the time it was all done the earth might not even
be here for all we know.

And ive seen you state several times that simply firing that thing would give
us the info we need, is that actually what you meant or did you mean the
outcome of the experiment overall would give us the info, IE getting readings
back from a black hole?

Launch a probe at a black hole via a rail gun. Have you ever built a rail gun? (Great fun, btw, but something of a nightmare parts wise). If you have, then you understand that you have made a logical leap-of faith in comparing a quantum system (CERN's LHC) to a Newtonian system (Macro world, rail gun).

Also, ALL the velocity of the rail gun is achieved in the launch phase. The nearest black hole is 1,600 LY away. So you would need super luminal speeds at launch. The force of acceleration acting on your probe would destroy it, assuming there were enough power on earth to attempt to launch it. Even if your probe survived the shock and heat of launch, you would still be faced with atmospheric friction which would take care of the rest.

Just some random thoughts about your idea...

How the heck would you aim it? Let alone build it! Keep in mind it's a itty-bitty particle accelerator, not for a large load.

you wouldn`t have to build it above ground, the major portion of it could be built below ground and the earth itself would act as the support to keep it from falling down. Only a small portion of it would need to be built above ground.
maybe that`s what all these secret underground pyramid things were used for?
