Hi all

Lol I feel like Im starting to many threads but I just saw this and thought ats would like it

Well i guess the white house doesnt like the idea of the us having a death star. Im not sure if was ever really that feasible but its fun to talk about

cosmiclog.nbcnews.com...

The White House says building a Death Star would be an out-of-this-galaxy waste of money — not only because it's against government policy to blow up planets, but also because the United States already has access to a space station as well as a laser-wielding space robot

Today's official statement on the Death Star issue, titled "This Isn't the Petition Response You're Looking For," was written by Paul Shawcross, chief of the science and space branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget. It comes in response to a "We the People" petition that called on the federal government to start building a "Star Wars"-style Death Star battle station by 2016.

L
L, glad to hear that it is "official", that was keeping me up at nights. Seriously though, don't we have better things to do than to blow stuff up?
Thanks for keeping us posted!!

The Death Star was a tool of The Dark Side (notice they both have the same acronym T.D.S.)

The government may well have saved us from The Dark Side, which would be a bit of an oxymoron, but no matter.

Incidentally, isn't an out-of-this-galaxy waste of money exactly what our government is best at? Seems like shady reasoning to me.

Hmm but the USA do have plans from the Cold War to put orbiting Space Weapons in space ( Examples: nuclear missiles in Space satellites)

Damn!
First we're not going to Mars for another 20 years or so, and now this!
Well hopefully the euro ELI project is still rolling on schedule.

They probably already have one.

Or they will do this in secret if they haven't already.

or they feel there is no need because what the flying saucers are better than a death star idea.

Someone has created an interesting video on this subject:

How much money was whizzed away on this reply? Even if it's two cents, it's a colossal waste of cash.

Frankly, no matter how good of an idea it seemed like at the time, this "White House Petition" thing is utterly stupid. People should not be allowed to create a petition nominating "Snooki" from Jersey Shore as UN Ambassador and the White House is required to respond to it.

I find it hard to believe that this is an official statement/reply after all the White House has no sense of humor and that reply was funny.
