I surf ATS. On my IPad.

For the past couple of weeks, whenever I click on anything, reply to, a thread or not even clicking at all. if I just touch my screen it will zap me right out of ATS onto porn ads. I'm tired of losing the page I was on. Sometimes they open a new tab, not zap me out and I will be closing my tabs and find the offensive porn, [snip] an entire gallery of this trash. I let small children play on my iPad when they visit me. I might have a quick look at ATS while people are here and suddenly my screen is all porn. Its embarrassing. Annoying.

Please do something about this.

Incidentally other ads are opening new tabs as well. I'm guessing these are pop ups . If I was on a computer they would be forced open unless I disable popups. I don't know how I disable popups on an iPad.

This shouldn't be a website promoting porn ads. I can deal with the other stupid ads of the face peeling skin thing, but not porn thankyou very much.

Im no expert, but it sounds to me as though you have some sort of worm or virus. Highly unlikely that it is the ste causing it.

well i've never seen ad's like that. but clearing cookies and using some anti-adware/spyware/malware software(available for free) should solve youre problem.
there are better ways, but were not aloud to mention that.

The last time this happened, it was malware or a worm on the computer in question. Might want to scan your system and double check.

I find it offensive that you find those particular nouns offensive...

As for the Ads, it's obvious your LSO cookies link you to those Ads due to your previous search history.

I'm on an IPad, and I've never had that kind of problem. You can clear cookies and turn on your pop up blocker in Settings/safari web browser. If that doesn't work, you may want to download an anti malware program.

I don't find the nouns offensive just the images.
I have nothing against porn, I'm against looking at it when I didn't choose to. My cookies are cleared after each browsing session. I clear cookies and history.

iPads don't get virus' or malware as far as I know. I've looked into that and people say they can't. How true this is, is snyones guess. Its not a windows computer or obviously I would scan. My iPad is working fine and only does this on ats. Its not the only website I go to. Its when I come on here this happens or I would not make a thread about it. Like I said its not just porn ads. It doesn't happen if I click an offsite link out of a thread either. I'm just navigating this site.

I'm not complaining about the site. I'm just posting about an issue.

I looked in settings and there is a pop up blocker that is turned on.

Thanks for your reply

nakedsecurity.sophos.com...

It actually could happen, and you'd never know it. Yet another reason I'll never use Apple.

ATS will not cause the problem you are having

The trouble is on your end

Erm...you caught a bug from somewhere....and I don't think it's from here.

Perhaps those that protest most loudly are the ones with the most to hide. Hypocrisy?

I have never gotten a porn ad from this site...maybe because I don't go to those sites or maybe because I have good security. I am guessing security.

I think you need to go get some scans....I'd start with Microsoft security essentials...it's a pretty solid scan and is decently up to date. I think you have a bug dude....don't knock the site until you have removed all other possibilities.

I would recommend looking into Kaspersky for mobile devices. They are a very good antivirus company, and they have that available. I know on the computer versions, you can block certain types of things, and you might be able to on the iPad as well. At the least, you can clear any viruses. The only time I ever had that issue was when something nasty got into an older computer (thanks, Norton...). Virtually the same thing you describe, but on a desktop. Sounds like you got a bug. Hope you can ge tit cleared; know that would make me angry, too!

stop looking at porn

run a scan when you're done

Thanks for the replies. I will just keep deleting the cache, cookies more often hoping it goes away. I will also try in settings to turn the pop up blocker off, then back on again. Do a restart. I notice some of the settings on apple devices don't function unless you do this. There aren't really any scans or virus software for apple devices. I looked into this before making the thread. Its not crashing or malfunctioning like a computer does if there is a virus.

I haven't visited any porn sites. I mostly visit news or science related sites. Or itunes and youtube. No social media sites. I google a lot, visit ats, watch movies, text or email. that's about all i do with it. My apps are all decent apps, or children's apps when I let my grandchildren play on it. Nobody else uses it. Its locked with a pass code. My cats have apps they play with.

I'm also not trying to bash ats . It was just an issue that started recently. Thought I would ask to see if anybody else had this issue. Maybe I went about in the wrong way right after I just got another ad.

I would rather just delete this thread actually but it can't be done now. A mod can if they want to please.

Thank you

I hear those ads are based on your browsing history.

Check this one out:

Seems new, but if it's compatible, that could really help you out. As a parent, I can understand your concerns.

For those assuming this is from browsing history, that is NOT always the case. The computer of mine that had such an issue never had anyone go to such sites willingly. Some of the viruses are set to do that to a system.

Thing is they are. I get Disney and Old Navy.
I am incredibly boring.
