We are not other countries. We have our laws and our constitution.

We are a nation of laws and contracts, so yes I need that little piece of paper. I need it to spell out what the role of the government is in this country. I need it to remind the government to keep within its proscribed role. I need it so that no president can try to fundamentally change my country.

Checks and balances to protect liberty and keep the proper balance of power.

So you need it to convince yourself of what isn't true. I can see why this is an advantage to those in charge.

I don't need to convince myself of anything, however the government may need a reminder.

They can do whatever they want, the constitution wouldn't stop them. They don't need reminding, they aren't that stupid.

Did you just say U.S. Government and aren't that stupid in the same sentence? Sir!! That is an oxymoron! That has to be one of the most nonsensical statements I have ever heard and truly one of the most ignorant.

This interview has made me think further on this topic in a logical way, banning assault rifles doesn't bother me, but ignoring the Constitution is the real threat here, because then what's next? It will be open season on it, and guess what, by then nobody will have the ability to do anything about it, as the guy stated.

So I have a question about the Second Amendment and it's intent by the founding fathers...

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Was the "Arms" part intended to be the common weapon of a regular army soldier? I imagine back when this was written it was a 1 shot musket. Because if that was it's intent by the founding fathers that means "the people" would keep pace with whatever technology would develop in regards to arms, and what the common soldier would use as their main firearm.
If that is the case, does not a regular US army soldier use an AR-15?

Well I beg to differ, they are that stupid, they are trying currently to do whatever they want and it is high time to remind them of just how stupid they are at times.

The Constitution was not written by stupid people, and it is just as valid in it's meaning today as it was back then. People who try and do away with the Bill of Rights make me sad, and they are the first people that would be crying thier eyes out at the injustices after they got thier way by thinking that they are so much smarter than our authors of the Constitution were. As long as there are evil people there is always the threat of the government turning on the people. When the people have arms, they can't just usurp power. When people are unarmed nothing is stopping them from doing so.

I've said this before in a different thread and will say it again so somebody doesn't ask the inevitable. Yes we would stand a chance against the military if we are armed. Not all military and law enforcement are robots and they swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. That being said they will have a significant amount that will side with the people and will not blindly just follow orders. The government would not use WMD's on the people because taking out your own infrastructure and people would not be logical. They still have to live here so dropping nukes would be illogical (you don't take a dump in your back yard). They would not use other means to blanket kill civilians because people are needed after the dust settles to do all the jobs that they don't want to do. It would be akin to shooting yourself in the foot or cutting off your nose to spite your face. Without weapons.....well....the rulebook changes and all bets are off. THAT is why it is imperitive to keep the 2nd amendment and not ban weapons.

what you said here is correct ...

if that was it's intent by the founding fathers that means "the people" would keep pace with whatever technology would develop in regards to arms, and what the common soldier would use as their main firearm.
exactly.
here are a few of their quotes affirming it.

cap-n-ball.com...
"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."
George Mason
Co-author of the Second Amendment
during Virginia's Convention to Ratify the Constitution, 1788

"The great object is that every man be armed." and "Everyone who is able may have a gun."
Patrick Henry
American Patriot
and several others

If that is the case, does not a regular US army soldier use an AR-15?
yes and moreso.
we are highly restricted in obtaining similar 'arms' of all kinds.

ohhh, i almost forgot ... one of my many favorites ...
"the beauty of the 2nd amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it" - Thomas Jefferson

Ummm....Rob MCconnel is a total dick?

Just kidding.

I understand what Canada's problem is.
You guys (ya'll) didn't deport all those draft dodgers from the 60's.
Maybe it's not too late, somebody call Sgt. Preston!

Okay, that's the extent of my knowledge concerning America's Hat, except for the fact that the band is too tight!

LULZ, you guys know we love ya....

Morgan's show is nothing more than a baiting move by CNN(dying) to try to elicit "controversy".
I really miss Larry King! There should be an American on this show, not a foreign national.
Morgan doesn't have to be deported(stupid idea if you're an American), just taken off the air. CNN has fallen more than anyone could have imagined after the Gulf War(#1). It's sad. No credibility, no respect, no real journalism, just pandering to the "trending now" mindless "social media" mess we've sunken to.
An issue doesn't have two equally opposing viewpoints. Usually the opposing viewpoint is nonsensical stupidity(not to be redundant). High time for "common sense" to make a huge comeback!

How is that in a supposedly developed country with a supposedly educated population that so many, like yourself, do not have a clue what a communist is?
I suppose referring to the UK as a 'socialist rock' implies you aren't in the top percentile, but nonetheless, ever hear of this? 'Deny Ignorance'
Like, it really isn't that hard a concept to get your head round...

I was amazed myself when I heard he had a TV show in the States, after he got sacked over here we all kind of thought it would be the end of his career for good.

But, deporting him for exercising the right to free speech? Isn't the hypocritical?

(and btw I would tend to fall down on the pro-gun side of things)
