Just confirmed small EQ. In s Illinois....I thought it was thunder..because we are under severe weather alert. Weird..just thought I would report..

Read urban survival EQ prediction for the 11th..usually I take those things with a grain of salt..now a little concerned..

I thought that was thunder as well makes sense though we are way overdue ( not a prediction)
I'm south of St. Louis MO about 50 miles or so

Because its located in new Madrid does that make it our fault or yours , just kidding

I'm pretty much dead center where this hit.... I'm hoping it was just a slight rumble and not a precursor.
I'll keep you all updated if I feel anymore rumbles.

We have weather in the area and I also thought was just thunder. Didn't even seem to upset my dogs much.

I'm in Herrin, so we're basically neighbors

I am a little shocked there wasn't more than just a passing reference on the news though.

That is a little north of the big monster.

It actually happened within the Wabash valley fault system

Wow thanks for that..should we be concerned that they are increasing? I really don't know much about EQ..been through about 5 of them all under 6.0.

A random thing would be ok.
How deep it is is something to look at .
The 2.7 was alot deeper then the rest of them.

Need to ask puterman and muzzy ,they are the experts.

Had my eye on this the last couple of days.

Yesterday I made a prediction (to myself) that there would be a 3.0 or larger in TN in the next few days. Still wondering, but not sure about TN anymore. Could be any of the New Madrid states. Of course, I base this on nothing more than my observations the last year. Would love to hear what Puterman has to say.

Looks like we are back "in season". Two years in a row that most activity has been in Jan and Feb, hmmm.
We had a very active thread about the New Madrid, www.abovetopsecret.com...

There is also a huge source of information and resources that was gathered during the course of that discussion, www.abovetopsecret.com... Please use those for research and understanding for information on the area.

Will be watching this thread for current infos. I too hope its not a precursor....
love and light SfS.

Hope this is not off topic but I am wondering if there is a connection to the NM.

I'm in Memphis. I saw this report a couple of weeks ago about this unusual bug found in the garage of a woman that lives in Dyersburg which is dead smack on the NM fault. The bug, a mole cricket, lives underground and rarely ever surfaces.

tiptoncounty.wmctv.com...

I find it unusual that a cricket would surface and find it's way into a garage in the middle of winter. It's very odd and got my attention. It could be just a random event, or not.
