Sheriff Joe hires armed sex offenders to "guard" children.

What could possibly go wrong with this? Bigot geezer Joe Arpaio has set up an armed "posse" full of people with arrest records for sex crimes against children, assault, and a myriad of other crimes. This posse's job? Act as guards for schoolchildren in Maricopa County, Arizona. In police uniforms, the very symbol children are taught to trust.

Well it seems to be more than the schools or the government is doing to protect them....
There are plenty of unsavory people ALREADY "teaching" our children in schools, here are just a few links.

In all of these stories they give the references for the people with misdemeanors and the like, then state that there's children rapists among the posse and give no evidence. Certainly makes it sound more newsworthy though.

The county is already paying for police protection at the schools. Now why is Nazi Joe putting untrained, unpaid people with no authority in these schools. Maybe somebody should be asking Joe where is our money going?

Well, it appears Sheriff Joe won by a clean 6% of the vote this past election so the locals approve of him by a fair enough margin. At least the schools do have people immediately available since copy cat issues are always a concern and this is just exploding for how the political leadership from all directions is playing it non-stop.

As an AZ resident, I'm no fan of Sherriff Joe. That said that article is bs. The majority of the posse members are ex/retired LEOs and military. They weren't put together for this, they already existed and help out all of the time. No one says a word until now... Why? The aren't patroling the schools. They are observing from a distance, like across the street. Sheriff Joe isn't responsible for that stab about not looking for child rapists, that was bad work by CPS.

Overwhelmingly, the parents at the schools they are keeping a eye on have been appreciative of their help.

The only ones complaining are doing so on the basis that they hate Joe. Apparently, also making stuff up and calling journalism.

My friend solomons path, you are absolutely correct. I know many of Joe's Posse member's. They are either ex LEO's or Military and all have back ground checks ran on them.
Again you're correct, The source for the OP is not creditable.

Most of the schools that will be patrolled are located in county islands. The patrols will not be on the campuses, but rather in the area surrounding the schools. The idea is to have a visible law-enforcement presence around the schools.

Also, it's true sense the Posses as been patrolling the malls in Maricopa County, there has been less if not no violent crimes in our malls.

rpaio first started using his posse to protect malls during the holiday shopping season in 1993 in response to violent incidents in prior years. Since then he said malls where his posse members are on patrol have had zero violent re-occurrences and patrols by his all-volunteer squad during the 2012 shopping season netted a record 31 arrests.
