This article was written by a Kerry suporter, who decide to do a little experiment. Donning the t-shirt and buttons of each candidate he went into areas that supported the other guy. I think the difference in the reaction of Bush supporters when he was wearing a Kerry shrt and the Kerry supporters when he was wearing a bush shirt, says a lot. Mny people have talked about how ugly this election is getting.
I think it has something to do with the fact that Bush supporters support Bush while Kerry supporters hate Kerry.

I think you mean "Kerry supporters hate Bush"

And this surprises you how?

Bush has drastically soiled our public image, gained the US even more enemies, gone from a budget surplus to a defecit, lost jobs, pandered to our enemies, and we've seen the emergeance of two new nuclear powers, both of which hate us....

And you are surprised that people hate Bush?
I'm more surprised that some people still want him to represent us to the rest of the world...

Bush supporters are also prettier and shower more frequently.

Yeah that was a mistype.

You know what though gaz? I dont care about the US's public Image. Hell for years now we have done more for more countries than any other and even before bush everybody thought that Americans were arrogant ignorant and boorish. I don't think bush has gained us any more enemies, I think most of those enemies were enemies to begin with. The budget surplus was a projection, not actual money in the bank and I dont think we would have any more jobs today if gore had been elected if anything I think it would be worse. I don't see how he has pandered to anyone, you will have to explan that to me. Both of those countries went nuclear becuase they had the ability to do so not because we let them. See all the things you are blaming on Bush IMHO would have happened under gore too. The difference is at least these enemies are afraid we will actaully do something to back up our threats now. For years the US was a paper tiger becuase we were afraid to back up our words. We talked and we negotiated, but thats all now to paraphrase starwars episode 2, we use "agressive negotiating" techniques.

Ha-haaa. Hilarious! This didn't really show me anything I didn't already know. I've always known that liberals are much more emotional and tend to take politics further....They also tend to hate the other side more
. I've come close to being attacked at MY school because some kid heard me talking about how I was conservative!!!

Let's just do ATS & it's family of sites!

From what I've casually tallied in the various threads I've been given the information in:

Bush Supporters: Predominately White male. The most vocal are student age, which means careers/businesses/marriages/degrees or much overall life experience has not been logged yet. A somewhat balanced split to professional/blue collar, but more non-professional. Military veterans are well represented, but the most vocal are not vets.

Kerry Supporters: Diverse among sexes & ethnic background. The most vocal are educated professionals. More & higher level academic degree holders are vocal. More tilted towards professionals than blue collar among vocal posters, though the student age posters are very vocal. A well represented number of military vets which are the most vocal on the critique of the war's mismanagement.

This is from what I've gleaned second hand from thread back & forth.

You have to be kidding - what site is this that you were analyzing? Truly not ATS. At least have some stats if you are going to mislead people with them. Why not ask ATS to do a little poll about peoples backgrounds and gender etc.

Actually, my friends and I actually fit your "Bush" demographic. I am actually a registered Republican, and have been for over a decade. However, I am growing more and more disillusioned with the party, and plan on registering as Independent after the election. The majority of candidates I'm supporting are a mix of libertarian and democratic (national, state, and local levels).

I don't see how he has pandered to anyone, you will have to explan that to me.

The attitude towards Saudi Arabia...specifically their preferred treatment, despite being the nation of origin for the majority of the 911 hijackers, Baker's law firm defending the Saudis against the 911 victim families, past bailouts of failing Bush businesses, etc. etc.

I won't say you're thick, because it connotes a desirable attribute to some, and that is not my intent. What did you not get from me saying " what I've tallied" or "secondhand back & forth", and then deduce that I'm a Statistician tracking this stuff?

All of the pro-Bushers are mostly White. All are mostly male. All of the pro-Kerry are diverse. If there have been Black or Latino Women singing the praises of the Bush administration on ATS, I have obviously missed them.

Start that poll, Gazzie....we got us some dem-O-graphics to compile!!

I'd post the idea in Board Questions...such a thing is beyond my meager powers, hehe...

When was the last time a gay/black/jewish/woman supported Bush? When was the last time any jew, gay(besides log cabins, they pulled their support from Bush this year and opted for Kerry) black,(Besides Powell or Rice) or women(besides his wife or Rice) supported Bush? They may not all support Kerry, but how many support Bush? I can just not see the parades of black with signs saying Go BUSH! Or a group of lebians selling videos for votes for Bush. Not going to happen.

Wow, you get less and less responsible for that incident every time you tell the story Herman.
The first time it was a "misunderstanding" because they overheard you bad mouthing whimpy liberals to your friend ("as a joke"). They merely called you on it. Now you sound as innocent as a kitten. Way to victimize my man!

And Mynaeris?

Bush supporters are also prettier and shower more frequently.

Or should I say Ms. Coulter? Is this based on your assessment of "TV Bush supporters" or hitchhiking across the south into the heart of his base?

Note I'm NOT saying anything like what you said (meaning Bush supporters are less attractive or shower less frequently), but rather the sheer ugly of some people is pretty even in my mind.

And I've also seen well showered, pretty Bush supporters that happen to be some of the "ugliest" people on the planet.

Fear not though...you'll all be put out of your misery soon enough.

Haha..The only thing that would have made her hot is the pie in the face. Michael Moore would have even kissed her

You want to know the REAL difference between kerry supporters and Bush supporters?

NONE. Not a friggin thing.

Neither side has any sense of humor. Both sides actually take their candidates seriously, as if its some sort of religon.

Make a funny joke at the expense of one candidate, his supporters will whine, moan, complain, and attack, his enemies, will laugh as if its the funniest thing ever.

Both sides have no grasp with reality, are high on brainwashing and propoganda.

Neither side has America's best interest at heart.

So My verdict, there is no difference.

Bah. Not true. I've laughed at nearly every John Kerry joke i've seen except for the old classic "A vote for John Kerry is a vote for Al Quaida."

Neither side has America's best interest at heart.

They have different opinions on what is best for america. the problem is, however, they tend to do what is best for their party or "team".
That is a problem, yes.

Actually, Rant, My story really hasn't changed that much. First off, you're the one making it sound different by saying I was "Insulting wimpy liberals", and they "Merely called me on it". I remember saying something about how my friend was a liberal, and I was a conservative, and explaining to him that what he was saying wasn't a very liberal thing to say. Then the kids came up and said "Boy those conservatives sure are fags" or something to that extent... Yep, they "merely called me on it".

Really, my story hasn't changed a lot. I shortened it because I didn't want to tell it all over again. Besides, this isn't the only incident. We got into some arguments a few times after that when my friend and I were walking by.

That's fine. And I'm not seriously arguing this point except to raise the bar for the most meaningless arguement I can find myself in for the year
...but I recall it differently.

I know you told it even the first time as all their fault, but here's what "I" heard, being the liberal that I am.

You and your liberal friend frequently give each other a hard time as a joke. That's fine. So it was no big deal to you (or him) when he was mad about the healthy stuff in the vending machine for you to say something about "whimpy" or "wussy" (or something derogatory) "PC liberals" ruining snacks for everyone.

They heard that part and one said "Boy those conservatives sure are..."

Okay, so maybe that's not "calling you on it" as much as just shooting back. Then you shot something back at them, right? Then it got ugly.

I only brought it up, to 1) help get the sheer volume of useless trivia out of my head and 2) because you brought it up to make your point supporting the false generaliztions that...

"I've always known that liberals are much more emotional and tend to take politics further....They also tend to hate the other side more" (And didn't you also claim you used to be a liberal?
)

All based on this anecdotal evidence...

"I've come close to being attacked at MY school because some kid heard me talking about how I was conservative!!!"

Which I first heard quite differently as stated above. Regardless, consider the 90's when you cast blame for all this "emotional hate" or blame a side. The rabid hate from the right that started all this nonsense (IMHO) began with Jesse Helms (even earlier), Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and the whole of right wing of evangelical punditry with their efforts to take down a sitting President for a BJ and make merely being a liberal or Democrat an act of treason.

I'm not saying payback is right, but it is a bitch.

There was a time when Reagan and Tip O'Neil met for dinner and drinks after fighting politics all week, yet still considered each other friends. It didn't used to be like this. The Republicans did not take kindly to losing the White House in '92. They got control of the Senate and turned into the biggest bunch of whiny, pissy babies on the planet determined to "stomp out" liberalism and take full control of everything.

In 2000 they got it. But not for damn long while I draw breath. They deserve all they get now. Some supporters may not, but those I knew from the 90's sure do. Hypocrites one and all.

It will get better though once the neocons are out. Alot of Republicans know the difference and want their party back too. It will get better. But the neocons that started this bitter partisanship must go.

Then we get to all be considered friends, patriots and Americans once again...even when we disagree.
