I believe you are correct. They are gauging the public's reaction to the concept to determine if it is doable.

I think as I type this they are going through popular forums and social networks looking for feedback on how this information is being taken by the general public.

Agreed on the EOs. It is time to start considering:

You mean when the amnesty period is over and they stage an "event" where the "patriots (er, domestic terrorists/enemy combatants)" ambush local law enforcement (with their military liason) doing their job of collecting illegal firearms?

This won't happen because Biden said it. Sadly we became less intelligent, more servile, more dependent in "these" days. Technically though America's war for independence was a peaceful revolution until the British invaded. At that point things got ugly. They even had the decency to formally declare their independence to a king who could give two craps about it. I just keep wondering can these people really be this stupid?....worth it to save a life? This will cost many lives if they keep going down this road...they don't even have to do it, just threaten to do it, and have people believe and this country will come apart at the seems...... Also what LEO, or national guard or military unit would be crazy enough to go out and enforce this.....? Maybe in places like NYC it would fly that are practically socialist states anyway, just about void of American ideals save for a minority that my hat is off too and I have complete sympathy for....but forget even teh south east, midwest, and southwest all of which would make Afganistan seem like a playground overnight....just try taking guns in say Philly and see what happens.... Even if you did try first in more agreeable places you would over night basically greenlight every nut McVeigh wanna be and legitimize them, you'd ,make government employees everywhere into targets.....even if it never ever went through....even if it's just rhetoric they are really playing with a fire I don't think they have properly estimated..... This isn't just about civilains vs Police or military, most of the military guys I know, and many LEO's would be among the most likely to absolutely lose their cool......I hope it's not only bluster, I hope they chill it before some nutcase really does take it seriously.... Unless they really want the chaos, and just need an excuse for martial law....this is just nutty.

In any case I have a very simple fix for all states to end this. Require all able bodied state citizens of legal age to join a state "militia", require a weekend each year for training, and that they purchase at cost a basic AR15 made in that state for that role. (you could do this pretty darn cheaply compared to what they normally sell for) As the rifle is made in state no federal laws apply, and the federal governemnt can't say a thing without committing total treason as it has no authority in such a case, and an armed state would make that unthinkable. Really without that happeneing many states are pretty much that way....but where they can come down is interstate commerce. Fine, State funded rifles available to all adults.....Heck do the Swiss thing make it apart of HS education and make public ranges in every community.....I'll bet money no one considers disarming them, and crime goes down as well.
