ANKARA, Turkey – Turkey's seismology center says an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 has hit an area off Turkey's Aegean coast.
The earthquake was felt in Istanbul and neighboring regions, but there was no immediate report of any damage.
A strong earthquake, has struck central and eastern Greece, with its epicenter located south of the island of Limnos in the Aegean Sea.
The Athens Geodynamic Institute put the magnitude at 5.9 and said the quake occurred between the Greek islands of Lemnos and Lesvos, near the Turkish coast.
The tremor hit 16 minutes after 4 p.m. and was felt as far as Athens, 247 kilometers away.
