Is there supposed to be something special about this quake? Is it related to volcanic activity or a swarm that's building up to something much worse? it just another insignificant quake?

We have a first aftershocks.

I was also going to post about this quake. However I would have put it in the quake watch thread.

IMHO, I do not consider this a Significent quake, I do think it is very interesting.

A good jolt for the area. It was in the sea, not on land. I wonder if it could cause some tidal rise around the area?

To add: It is also getting alot of aftershocks.

In this area long time there was no strong EQ, it's significant strong and shallow shake ..

Last 7-8 years was no EQ stronger of M 5.5 + in Aegean Sea ..

If you ask me it's very significant EQ ..

Also possibility this EQ can trigger stronger one in Turkey or Greece soon ..

More aftershocks ..

I've been watching this sequence of quakes in a certain depth range around the world since the 7.5 in Alaska. There seems to be some bell effect at the depth of 5.5-6.8 miles. I too felt this quake was significant. Around Latitude 39 degrees has had a lot of activity. Specifically at the 6.2 depth, I think is significant. Last night I watched the California, Alaska, Turkey quakes and was so sure one would occur, I took my phone to bed and checked earthquakes all night. I have never done that. At the link below, the deepest hole on earth at the Russian Kola Peninsula surprised researchers when it revealed the highest seismic velocity zone was below 6 miles below a fractured layer of metamorphic rock infused with water! They expected the velocity zone to be much shallower and were puzzled by the water.

This quake was significant. I thought one would hit at 6.2 miles deep around the 39 degree latitude area. I didn't guess the ocean, I guessed Turkey when the 3.3 at 6.2 miles deep hit at 10:23 pst hit. I also wondered about Northern California between San Francisco and Oregon border area.

I'm gonna keep watching, maybe there is a pattern.....we all want to be able to predict, find a pattern, frankly I think there are many, many different patterns. Let's see what's next.

Here is only M 3.0 + ..

Also think in next days we will have one more strong EQ of M 7.5 + somewhere very probably on sensitive areas of "Ring of FIre", probably in next 4 days to 13 January ..

Before 3 days we had a EQ offshore M 7.7 SE Alaska, British C. - North of Cascadia Subduction Zone
