No, that is how you read it! 'sigh' (right back at ya)

It says

"impact risk page lists the diameter at 0.270 km, or 270 metres (890 ft) and lists a mass of 27 megatonnes based on an assumed density of 2.6 g/cm3.[3] The mass estimate is somewhat more rough than the diameter estimate, but should be accurate to within a factor of three."

Your page, not mine, and the MASS of 27MTons. Not the energy release, the mass.

need more precise info on the Apophis orbit

it orbits mostly between the orbital paths of Earth and Venus...

And crosses the orbital paths of both Earth & Venus Twice each every orbit of Apophis

does the path of Apophis intersect the Earth orbit only once every 7 years... and the Earth is only near that intersection point only on rare occasions? (2029 & 2036)

see orbit graphic here: thethoughtstash.wordpress.com...

[note: on the linked page taken from NASA itself
the orbit periods of interest include 2036-2056-2068-2076-2103

why the irregular periods?
20 yrs-20yrs-12 yrs then 8 yrs then 27 years ?? a pattern of 20 year periods of closeness but with very odd departures from the 20 year harmonic
]

i need explained IF the Apophis orbit crossing the orbit of Venus has no effect on the orbit of Apophis...are the two orbital planes so far apart that there is no gravational effect?

You are correct, and I was completely incorrect. I apologize.

(see? Yes skeptics like me can admit they were wrong).

However, even if it strikes us, Apophis is not a ELE type of asteroid. Using the information that we have on it (diameter, density, etc), we can use things like Earth Impact Effects Program from Purdue University.

Here is what I get when I punch in a 350 meter wide asteroid with a density of 2600 kg/m^3 (that's 2.6 g/cm^3 converted), approaching at 17 km/s, at a 45 degree angle, with the observer standing 200 km away, and striking land:

The Earth is not strongly disturbed by the impact and loses negligible mass.
The impact does not make a noticeable change in the tilt of Earth's axis (< 5 hundreths of a degree).
The impact does not shift the Earth's orbit noticeably.

The projectile begins to breakup at an altitude of 58400 meters = 192000 ft
The projectile reaches the ground in a broken condition. The mass of projectile strikes the surface at velocity 16.2 km/s = 10.1 miles/s
The impact energy is 7.68 x 1018 Joules = 1.84 x 103MegaTons.
The broken projectile fragments strike the ground in an ellipse of dimension 0.996 km by 0.704 km

Thermal Effects:

Time for maximum radiation: 243 milliseconds after impact

Visible fireball radius: 807 meters ( = 2650 feet )
The fireball appears 0.917 times larger than the sun
Thermal Exposure: 9.86 x 103 Joules/m2
Duration of Irradiation: 51.3 seconds
Radiant flux (relative to the sun): 0.192

Seismic Effects (felt from 200 km away):

The major seismic shaking will arrive approximately 40 seconds after impact.
Richter Scale Magnitude: 6.8
Mercalli Scale Intensity at a distance of 200 km:

IV. Felt indoors by many, outdoors by few during the day. At night, some awakened. Dishes, windows, doors disturbed; walls make cracking sound. Sensation like heavy truck striking building. Standing motor cars rocked noticeably.

V. Felt by nearly everyone; many awakened. Some dishes, windows broken. Unstable objects overturned. Pendulum clocks may stop.

Sigh.........

This is what happens when people do not READ or fail to UNDERSTAND.

The Asteroid is not 27 megatonnes in weight.

27 megatonnes is the estimated energy release if it were to impact the earth.

It would release the same amount of energy as a 27 million tons of TNT.

The Tsar Bomba (which was air dropped by the way, so it wasn't standing still), when it detonated released energy equivalent to 57 million tons of TNT.

Sorry, but you are not correct. The Tunguska blast was estimated at 15 megatons, and that object was a fraction of the size of Apophis. If the latter hits Earth, it will release FAR more energy than 27 megatons.

Was this it? Why is there two? CGI? Jets?

After reading the comments on YT, it's planes.....

PLANET Earth will get a close look at a wandering demon when asteroid Apophis passes within a few million kilometres on Thursday.

Did anyone get any footage of this?

You had to read the comments to figure out that those were planes?
