Call them what the are: Gun Nazi's.

A trip through history:

In 1919, the German government passed the Regulations on Weapons Ownership, which declared that "all firearms, as well as all kinds of firearms ammunition, are to be surrendered immediately."[2] Under the regulations, anyone found in possession of a firearm or ammunition was subject to five years' imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 mark

NFA

On August 7, 1920, the German government enacted a second gun-regulation law called the Law on the Disarmament of the People. It put into effect the provisions of the Versailles Treaty in regard to the limit on military-type weapons

Brady Laws

In 1928, the German government enacted the Law on Firearms and Ammunition. This law relaxed gun restrictions and put into effect a strict firearm licensing scheme. Under this scheme, Germans could possess firearms, but they were required to have separate permits to do the following: own or sell firearms, carry firearms (including handguns), manufacture firearms, and professionally deal in firearms and ammunition. This law explicitly revoked the 1919 Regulations on Weapons Ownership, which had banned all firearms possessio

I'm afraid by the time a bill is drafted and popular support for gun control will have subsided and they will carry out another 'tragedy' to give the bill the popular support it needs.

It would be great if we lived in a world where there were no guns available to anyone. That world does not exist and anyone who thinks gun control will keep guns out of criminal and disturbed individuals hands are living in a fantasy land. Guns are necessary in the world we live in. The 2nd Amendment is an important right.

My local range has been full parking lot since the election - no matter if its middle of weekday or on weekend - its packed!

As far as the OP, basically they can pass all the legislation they want nonetheless unconstitutional laws do not have to be followed.

Guns are not the real issue though. It is being used as such but common sense says otherwise. Ask yourself why that is. Ask yourself why our government walked assault weapons into Mexico and gave them to the drug cartels then had a media blitz about gun control being needed over that. America did not pay much attention to that. It is only when it is in their face that they react.

We don't and never will criminals will always have them, the police will always have them the military will always have them.

Who wants to live in that world?

A world that outsources their own personal security to those who are not worthy of trust.

From the dawn of man from sticks and stones to the sword and arrow to the gun mankind is the same as it ever was and no amount of laws will change that.

There is no law that has ever stopped murder the only law needed and laws following that is nothing but tyranny.

Over the next twelve years, the SCOTUS will change and move towards the left. This is where we will get real and meaningful gun control.

The definition of "militia" in the 2nd ammendment will be overturned from meaning the "unorganized" militia to "organized" militia. And then if you want to play with your guns, you can join the National Guard.

In the meantime, all the gun lovers can fall prety to the gun industries fear mongering and go throw away their money to buy more guns and ammo to protect themselves from the scary (imaginary) boogeymen that are out to get them.

I think they will over-reach and severely curtail that chance SCOTUS will go against the clear meaning of the constitutions 2nd amendment.

Better government schools would have taught the meaning of comma placement and what that means in sentence structure.

and

Obviously many here are not students of history even when it is placed before one's very own eyes. Otherwise it would be readily apparent what happens when a civilian population is disarmed - so many examples! How can you ignore?

The definition of organized and unorganized militia is codified into federal law and is not just an intrepretation needed from SCOTUS even if they failed english class.

The constitution is very specific on the manner in which it can be amended, why can't you folks go about things the right way instead of unconstitutional end runs?

There is a problem with that that has been noted. The right to keep and bear part....not to be infringed....on the personal level is clearly seperate from ideas about standing organizations whatever their disposition.

Also, the fact is that organizations calling themselves militias can be organized and mustered ad hoc outside of any offical state militia muster.

Both these arguments were made at the time of the forming and radification of the constitution and in fact carry the greater wieght SCOTUS by radification. In fact we wouldnt even have a SCOTUS if it were not radified at the same time the 2nd amendment was ratified.

In fact there is some legal precedent or term for the condition of a thing formed going back and changing what formed it. When and if SCOTUS wants to change an amendment to the constitution which predates its own existance, its power to do so can be challanged. The amendments were formed out before the structure of the government was even on paper. That it was understood that these rights would define the nature of the relationship between "WE THE PEOPLE" and the government structure and the balance of power.

Just thought I would join in on the fear mongering. Decades now...that is how long this BS rhetoric has been going on.

ATS should have a forum strictly dedicated to those that fear thier guns being taken away.

Yo where was the quality in that post eh?

Glad you find humor in liberals trying to ban weapons in a country where all men are supposedly equal not so fast only the government and the police have the "right to bear arms".
