It makes me happy when I see people just being people.

You guys dont ride the subway often....this gets annoying.
Especially after a long day, last thing you want is people dancing or singing next to you and then asking for money.

Cool. For reasons I can't explain, it reminded me of this FlashMob at a train station in Belgium!

I rode the subway plenty for 16 years of my life, but I also happen to live for music and stop for almost every sidewalk musician. I'm sorry you cant see the absolute bliss of 2 random musicians playing a song together.

I hate flash mobs.
They are so... forced.
Typical for the "look at me" generation.

To an actual new yorker this is just a hipster and someone homeless making noise.
They make a living off the tourists who feel its a broadway performance, the rest of us barely notice them.

You must have a lot of time on your hands to stop at every street performance.

I lived right outside NYC for 25 years you dont have to remind me. And to me many New Yorkers are a bunch of rats in a hurry to get nowhere. I figured out early on to let the morons run their own race I can stroll through life playing music, listening to music, chilling out etc.

Contrary to what you say I see 2 musicians having a good time jammin out as "real new yorkers" watch on then applaud them.

Sorry.
I've only seen a couple of them that my son showed me on youtube.
Funny, but I got the opposite take from you. To me, they seemed spontaneous, and multi-generational.
That's why I liked them!
I guess you and me are prime examples that two people can see the same train wreck and come away with two completely different eye-witness reports!
Cheers...
