Report: Japanese hostage killed in Iraq
TOKYO (AP) — A Japanese civilian taken hostage in Iraq by militants has been killed, Kyodo News agency reported Saturday, citing Japanese government officials.
TOKYO (Reuters) - A body resembling a Japanese taken hostage in Iraq was not that of 24-year-old Shosei Koda, the top government spokesman says.
Al Qaeda ally Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's militant group had said in an Internet video on Wednesday it would behead 24-year-old Koda within 48 hours if Japan did not withdraw its troops from Iraq.
