I have to respectfully disagree.

President Obama declares himself dictator. Massive civil unrest within urban areas ties up states.
President Obama declares himself dictator with military support. Civil unrest within urban areas ties up states.

Once he declares himself king the urban areas will back him. Some because they believe in him and others because of a "damn the man" attitude.

I feel for the liberals in the suburbs that wish this on themselves.

Everyone eventually gets what they deserve.

I have really had enough of people demanding I give them a definition of Socialism. Look it up yourself if you don't know. Meanwhile don't bother telling me I don't know. That is the oldest trick in the ATS book of argumentation. People keep using that line when they don't have anything else to go on.

Except the way Obama and friends get around that is they just don't bother to make a budget and Republicans throw up their hands in disgust and frustration because Obama has zero respect for Congress and our Representative form of govt and our Constitution.

for all the comments here that want to blame Obama for this.... how about a bit more info....

Rep. Jose Enrique Serrano (Dem), proposed the repeal of the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which would remove the restriction on the number of terms a President may serve.

He did the same thing in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011.

Nothing to do with Obama.

You quite don't understand how a republic works do you? Even if, and it is a big if, the "standing army" aka. active duty, agrees with him, he is faced with a deluge of States against him. It ain't gonna happen. Heck, even I don't agree with his politics but some of you are so far off the rocker it astounds me.

So? This is the problem highlighted in this thread! Why are people wasting their time petition the Executive when they should be redressing their representative!

Maybe I should change my stance and such a call would be detrimental to our country because so many are delusional to think they can ask the White House to act upon an "ail" of the country and they can "whisk" it away.......

Rep. Jose Enrique Serrano, is from Puerto Rico. Born there in 1943. At the age of 21 he joined the US Army from 1964 to 1966, somehow making him a citizen capable of REPRESENTING fellow AMERICANS. He used the 2 year slot in the US Army to apparently pay for his education at New York's Lehman College. He assumed office as a US Representative in 1975, where he's been ever since. 38 YEARS he's been "representing" us and for the past 16 years, has been openly in support of tyranny for attempting to disrupt and abuse our Constitution and legal system by presenting a Bill to repeal the 22nd Amendment.

How is this right? Why do we allow these ass-hats to "represent" us for most of their lives? Why has this guy been so hell bent on allowing unlimited terms for the seat of the President? 16 years is one long time to want one specific thing. Is it a name game thing, where he just wants his name on something important?

I'm sorry, but the Constitution is not available for editing. Ever.

That partisan left wing tripe and nowhere near the reality. I hope you realize this.

Yes Bush left the country in such good shape we lost nearly 1,000,000 jobs the month Obama
was sworn in

Such tripe

Some might look at that and say Bush left the nation in such bad shape ...Employers flushed their rolls as some parting shot of spite and a welcome to better times arrived as Obama was sworn in.

Is this double speak?

Others would look at that as the reaction of business AS A RESULT of Obama winning the election.

And are these other delusional and/or retarded?

The DOW was well below 8,000 -

in fact the economy started shedding jobs before the election even took please.

What you are describing is the right wing bubble based upon delusion and distortion.

You and the "others" are entitled to you delusions, while I am here to represent reality.

Well, you do tend to arrive with a flourish, I'll say that. I'll agree to disagree while noting there is room for opinion from all sides. Reality is a matter of perceptions and opinions when it comes to politics, in my view. As energetic as I tend to be..I do try not to make anything personal.

Who said? They were delusional whoever they were.

Yup, for decades. Guess who's funding it...

NOT going to happen

Correct.

and this US Representative should be pulled from office immediately.

Why?
I don't agree with his proposal but I don't see why he should lose his seat for doing something perfectly legit.

Willful ignorance. It's far easier to imagine all sorts of dictatorial demons running amok than to participate in the political process, well at least without being laughed out of any serious conversation. The role of powerless victim, acted out to Oscar worthiness.

Yes, they are, TrueAmerican. I got a link to this movie tonight so I'm sharing everywhere I can. It is AGENDA: Grinding Down America; written, produced, & directed by Curtis Bowers, and it documents the Communist Party's takeover of America via the "progressives". Imho, it's what Dinesh D'Souza's 2016 should have been.
You can watch the full movie on Vimeo for free, for a limited time.

vimeo.com...

Many familiar faces contributed to this movie & it isn't a "long" hour and a half. For those of us old enough to know better & before the indoctrination started, it's not really a surprise- just well organized & put together.
Please share if you are so inclined.

Happy New Year to you!

How are people on ATS so silly? It does not matter who your president is they are all the same... one word "CORPOCRACY". If you cannot comprehend that you do not deserve to vote.

If your newly elected president does not serve corpocracy they will be killed unless something drastically changes in our country. I.E. The citizens grow a brain (not gonna happen anytime soon). Sheesh, bunch of sheeple around.

tl;dr version: Take your democrat vs republican stuff and shove it. Look up the word corpocracy.

Wow. why don't they just crumple up the constitution and do whatever the heck they want. they do it anyways and only quote the constitution when it works in their favor.

Every section written in to protect the individual and the people is being taken out and everything that protects the state is being left in and being added upon.

And this is why Congress needs Term Limits and remove the lobbiest groups. I'd give them 3 -4yr terms(12yrs max),if voted in for 3 terms, and no pension or any other benefits for life. They could contribute to a 401k plan like everyone else.
Same would go for the Supreme Court, 1 -12yr term to keep some consistency.

I would like to see one member of Congress propose term limits, we may have some hope then.
Yes, we do have the power with or vote to limit them, but as it is currently set up, everyone keeps voting to keep getting their goodies.

I understand the priciples of a republic. I have a broad knowledge of the term from a historical standpoint. Some people do not like change and I suppose I would be one. I don't care for your condecension, but it doesn't surprise me.

Indefinite detention - no deluge
Death sentences without trial - no deluge
violation of war powers act - no deluge
warrentless wiretaps - no deluge
direct taxation initiated by PotUS - no deluge
hampering of right to assemble - no deluge
EO to change fundemental immigration law - no deluge

What do you really see the states doing. I see them sitting on their hands and doing nothing. They are trading out rights a little at a time, as long as they increase their personal power and bank accounts.

Sir/Ma'am, I DO know how a dictartorship works. At least I know the after effects of their rule. Women raped and fed to lions (I had to kill the lions), large population blocks with dibilitating amputations (can't fight back without hands), an entire generation with the physical scars of torture and abuse. Mass graves on a daily basis, beheadings due to ink on a persons fingers (hundreds in january 2005).

I am not a republican nor a democrat. I swore an oath to the Constitution and I am sure you have never done the same. Ridicule me as you must, I care not.

The president doesn't bother to make a budget?

There you go lying again, thrideye.
The president alone does not make a budget. This is the United States of America where 2 of the 3 branches of government pass a budget. That being said, both sections of government have already agreed on what to spend and have already spent it. Why then, is it ok for the right to whine about raising the debt ceiling now? They've already spent the money! This isn't about the budget. It's about paying the bill.

You guys only fool your own constituents. The rest of the country is slowly learning about your lies. The media doesn't have a liberal bias. It's just that you see it that way because the TRUTH tends to be the exact ooposite of what you were brainwashed with.

There is no dictatorship. There is no blank checkbook. There is no socialized Amairika and there is no hope for the GOP. Thyanks Teabaggers!

Haven't read the entire thread yet, but I read the other day, that this same Rep, has introduced the same bill since 1997.
That would include the 8 years of the Bush regime.

Yes, the same Bush that said something along the lines that a dictatorship would be fine, as long as he's the dictator. Let me know when Obama utters the same.

I voted for Bush, so no need to bother with the usual, you're just a "liberal" person, s*&t.

Twice so don't presume and questioning ones logic does not constitute ridicule unless you are so thin-skinned you cannot handle what is called a debate/discussion upon this subject.

For the record, can you show me and link to me the Executive Order in which you refer Obama changed immigration policy? Here is a link to Executive Orders
