Except the way Obama and friends get around that is they just don't bother to make a budget and Republicans throw up their hands in disgust and frustration because Obama has zero respect for Congress and our Representative form of govt and our Constitution.

Yeah, and the Establishment Rebooblicans in the House keep increasing the debt ceiling.

As long as they do that, there is no need for a budget for it is an open ended budget.

The Establishment Rebooblicans are more to blame than Obummer because they keep approving the increase in debt that is destroying this nation.

The truth is not popular on ATS but when the majority of americans realise we do not need 50 aircraft carriers and 150 military bases around the world to keep flipping the bird to russia and walk a thin line in terms of starting world war 3, THEN I will have much more respect for any attempted budget republicans try to pass.

Sure the democrats are wasteful but they tend to spend it on social welfare programs, which is money well spent, and even ron paul agrees with me.

Just to demonstrate my extremely valid point we spend ten times more on DOD projects than the second most powerful military nation. WTF is the money going to other than nuclear dumbs and stealth bombers and stealth fighters. God only knows!

yeh tell me abouddit! RINOS pretending to care about overspending then do nothing....Boehner for example...I was pretty mad when he expelled real conservatives from the committee....showed his real colors.....RED...and I don't mean RedState

I left the Rebooblican Party 8 years ago, and let the state and local party know to never call on me to help them until such time as they depart from their "Statist Lite" position and become Constitutionalists again.

I have really had enough of people demanding I give them a definition of Socialism. Look it up yourself if you don't know. Meanwhile don't bother telling me I don't know. That is the oldest trick in the ATS book of argumentation. People keep using that line when they don't have anything else to go on.

Not that I like the conventional definition of socialism, but you don't know the first thing about any form of socialism. Debating with you is a waste of time!

Expenditures across the board are totally out of hand.

I'd have to see some proof of that.

I agree, the fraud and excess expenditures on US military is criminal, and not what the founders envisioned at all.

Why fool around with pretenders when you can join the real deal and help make a positive difference?

At this point, I am an Independent who supports those who are Constitutionalist Conservatives regardless of the banner they run under.

And if they prove to be fakes, they will be called fakes and never get my support again.

I used to be a mild supporter of the democrats because they were more rational than the republicans who only care about the military industrial complex. Then I dumped them for spusa and now I am thinking of going constitution party because I don't care for socialism that much. It is more about stopping big business from raping the world and keeping unions strong.

Voting for an independant is a hit and miss deal because you never know what you are getting into much like ross perot. Better to stick with parties that have published ideologies, at least imo!

I am for trade wars to bring business back to america, much smaller military industrial complex, rational welfare spending, bring back and improve the space program.

It's not that I vote for "Independents". I myself, as an Independent, support anyone, from any political party or affiliation that is in line with the Constitutional principles laid down by the founders, especially Madison, Jefferson and Adams who did all possible to limit the scope and power of a big state federal government.

They may be running as a democrat, republican, libertarian, constitutionalist party, or whatever.

And I do ask them pointed questions to sniff them out as well.

I don't think trade wars are necessary.

We can bring business back to this nation through a total overhaul of taxing, to remove the graduated taxing system we have now to a national consumption tax, of say, 15% to 20%, which eliminates all income taxes, corporate or personal, eliminates all the sales taxes that start with the raw material and through ever phase to the finished product, so there is one tax at the end sale, only. That reduces the price through taking out the hidden taxes built into every step, as well as reduces the overhead of producers by the elimination of all the book keeping and acting as a tax collector for the government at each step in the process.

Also, eliminating taxes on business and investment income will attract business and investment.

One of the basic principles of investment and business is that the money flows to the least taxed, lowest risk and highest return.

All that can be accomplished by an overhaul of US taxing.

But the problem is, the graduated taxing system is one plank of the Communist Manifesto on the way to full fledged, Centralized Marxist Big Government.

The "Progressive", read that as Socialist, Woodrow Wilson knew exactly what he was doing when he introduced the graduated income tax.

Sorry but I totally disagree with the libertarian platform in relation to business regulation. The graduated income tax is a necessity but not the graduated income tax that democrats and republicans employ. The rates start too low and finish too low, which means they totally affect the middle class and ignore the truely wealthy which have the bulk of cash/assets.

If you don't go after wealthy people and big business, THEN these entities will rape america blind EVEN WORSE than we are seeing now. They must be kept on a tight leash, much like a pitbull dog that is overly aggressive. The best way to ensure business comes back is to gradually increase tariffs on imports till imports and exports become ballanced again. The chineese and russians can't compete with trade laws that favor american companies exploiting lax labor laws that encourage american companies to offshore there and then import american brand merchandise to america. What little exporting they do is called "knock-offs" and is very unfair for everyone except wall street investors.

Progressive taxation is necessary to keep money circulating in the markets aka liquidity, otherwise money gets tied up in foreign bank accounts and is nearly impossible to get it back. Tons of dollar bills have been printed by the federal reserve yet the constant artificial expansion and compression of the markets aka "bubbles" transfers money and assets to very few hands. IT IS A DISASTER!!

We are $16 trillion in the hole! Do you honestly think we can afford to cut taxes even more, regardless if we shrink the military industrial complex and welfare spending?

But the problem is, the graduated taxing system is one plank of the Communist Manifesto on the way to full fledged, Centralized Marxist Big Government.

Except that a substantial portion of the income raised from taxation goes to pay debt! In essance they are funneling money to the bankers and other investors of treasury bonds. That is NOT redistribution of wealth from the wealthy to the poor.

The "Progressive", read that as Socialist, Woodrow Wilson knew exactly what he was doing when he introduced the graduated income tax.

He was a liberal and a radical one at that, but certainly no progressive. A progressive frowns upon big business and banks, while favoring the middle class and small business. It seems you keep getting things wrong all the time.

The bottom line is that – like Stalin, Mao or Hitler – the U.S. government is using violence and threats to intimidate and coerce its own people for political purposes … to consolidate power and suppress dissent.

We are $16 trillion in the hole! Do you honestly think we can afford to continue to spend the way we do? See, the question is the same, but the answer from the politicians (typically Democrats if we use labels) is that we have a "revenue" problem and not a "spending" problem. It is hogwash both ways to kingdom come.

So, you are in favor of using the government to steal.

Got it.

A consumer tax is the greatest tax on the "rich". Why? Because when the "rich" buy only what the "rich" can buy, they pay a high tax on it.

It is BOTH a spending and revenue problem!

If you think we should continue paying it back then revenue needs to be increased and expenditures greatly decreased, otherwise we should just nationalise the federal reserve and cancel out all debt via that institution. Anyone left holding T-Bonds will be left in the cold. Happened to argentina, almost happened in greece(in fact they artificially shrank the debt by 50% there).

It ain't ever going to happen when we spend 10 times more on national defense than the second biggest military power and continue to give large scale corporate bailouts(low interest loans) that probably never get paid back and tax payer fool foots the bill.

State welfare and social security are minor compared to the aforementioned despite the right wing constantly demonising them. No wonder so many foreigners dislike/hate america; they can't stand their hypocrisy!

We are generating enough money in taxes to pay for everything we need. Too bad that money is being intercepted by the black budget, bureaucratic waste and straight up corrupt money embezzlers. The income tax and gasoline taxes alone generate an amount of money so large I can hardly fathom it.

We brought in nearly $2.2 trillion in taxes (2010) -- how is that a revenue problem? While I agree that there are many programs that require some very smart targeted cuts *everything is on the floor in regards to this; everything*, you assert that what we spend on state welfare and social security are miniscule to our defense budget right?

In 2010, spending on defense was $649 billion. Do you want to take a stab at social security? Or medicare and medicaid? How about social welfare programs such as unemployment benefits and disability?

Social Security: $707B
Medicare: $724B
Unemployment and other benefits: $535B

The bailouts were a joke, I agree wholeheartedly there.

Except I just showed you above that this is false. So want to own up to your false information you are spreading?!

hypocrisy!
