This is something I cannot understand. The topic is about removing presidential term limits, but it devolved into dem/rep talking points.

I may be OT but it's about the office of president, not the sitting president. Both parties have had a hand in the situation we find ourselves in.

Correct. Both parties are guilty of, shall we say malfeasance, and failure to do whats best for their citizens? Our Government has succeeded at one thing. Keeping everyone at each others throats, while they rob us blind.

As requested

Debate/discussion is a matter of tact and decorum. I am not thin skinned by any stretch. I am simply civil and I naively expect the same from others.

He's introduced similar measures 8 different times. Including some during the Bush administration. It will never even get out of committee.

You are correct, but it seems that anything to blame Obama for has been in season, since election night 2008, especially for those that reside on the right side of the aisle. When pointed out that this is nothing new, there are crickets from the right.

If you say 8 times, I'll go with that. As I previously said, I read every year since 97, and I certainly am not going to research this. I'll just keep laughing at the right for all the propaganda, and panic.

I assume fox news has been running with this for days.

I assume that someone has pointed out that every Congressional term, both Republicans and Democrats put forth a similar bill, pushing for extending term limits for President? If not, they do. And every time, it gets completely ignored.

Or I could have just read the post above mine. I agree with what the above poster said!

I'm not all that against the removal of the amendment, let alone a third term president by Obama.

The 2 term limit is a Republican creation from the 50s. And Obama isn't by far the worse president ever.

I'd much rather Obama over a republican right now. When the republicans are done reorganizing in the face of their own incompetence, maybe then, when they have regained sanity and direction, they can play ball again.

I don't think this has a chance of getting anywhere (the bill to repeal 22nd amendment).

The "distraction" that is the Presidential Election is necessary to continue the status quo, therefore we will continue to choose between a deferential Democrat who in bed with corporate interests, or a Republican with a bible on his sleeve, who favors corporate interests and flaunts it.

We don't need a dictator -- you've already got "right to work" states, and next year a lot of us will be working for less than we did this year. Your large corporations and monopoly suppliers are already dictating things to you. Have you read the EULA you signed for your bank account lately? You sign away rights every day.

Yeah, once 'they' get the majority of Americans to stop voting for him, their plan will really move into high gear.

I agree with this 100% - If we got the right man for the job. Obama isn't IT by a long shot.

One of the Big problems with our country is that we do have at best a "ruler" for 8 years at a time, many times only 4 if they don't get re-elected. The problem is 4 or 8 years is not enough to make proper changes to fix hard long term problems and the next guy always wants to do it differently than the guy before him. So, nothing gets fixed.

Kings learn from experience. No US President ever had one 10th the experience of a King.

The first 20 years may be horrible but in time, most of them learn to rule fairly and do the right thing for their peoples. They have the time and resources to find out what works and stick with it. No US President can do this.

That said, in today's climate - it will never work in the USA unless we change not just the Presidency but Congress The House, Senate.. all of our governmental systems. There is simply way too much corruption in the USA.

This place is filthy with people claiming to be "independent" but are clearly Republicans. If Mittens had won site traffic on ATS would have dropped by 1/2.

The US Constitution was never a problem for him, he either ignores it or write executive orders.

Grampa always said locks only keep honest people out, so also with out checks and balances in gov. He will do what ever he wants and it would be a surprise if they even make a show of having another election.

At this point, there is no difference between the Establishment Rebooblican Statists and the Demoncrap Statists.

It is only the Constitutionalists in groups such as the Tea Party, Ron and Rand Paul and others who hold back the Statists from absolute tyranny.

The Establishment Rebooblicans have held the house for most of the past 20 years, and that is where budgets, taxes and spending are approved. And they have approved ALL the spending and government debt that is destroying this nation.

It is time for "We the People" to stand in DEFIANCE of both sides of the same statist coin.

Except the way Obama and friends get around that is they just don't bother to make a budget and Republicans throw up their hands in disgust and frustration because Obama has zero respect for Congress and our Representative form of govt and our Constitution.

Yeah, and the Establishment Rebooblicans in the House keep increasing the debt ceiling.

As long as they do that, there is no need for a budget for it is an open ended budget.

The Establishment Rebooblicans are more to blame than Obummer because they keep approving the increase in debt that is destroying this nation.

The great mistake of modern civilization is to encroach upon others' property as though it were one's own and to thereby create an unnecessary disturbance of the laws of nature. These laws are very strong. No living entity can violate them. Only one who is Krsna conscious can easily overcome the stringency of the laws of nature and thus become happy and peaceful in the world.

Statists are the biggest threat to freedom, whether from the "Right" or "Left".

All the Establishment Rebooblicans like Boo Hoo Boehner and the like do is offer less socialism than the Demoncraps do.

But, they want to increase their power as much, so there is little difference between the two.

It is time that "We the People" stand up in clear and full DEFIANCE of the Statists on both sides who are destroying this nation, and it does not take that much. Only about 8% of the colonists were behind the Revolution against King George.
