Mexico owes The USA Billions of dollars, and here's why!

I’m finishing up my assignment here at NAS Ft Worth JRB, and my moon lighting at a local hospital will soon come to a close. Let me start out by going back a few years ago when I was assigned to Edwards AFB. I performed locum tenens at a Lancaster Hospital and compared the same data and arrived at similar proportional results. Albuquerque (Kirtland AFB), and Sacramento ( about 74% Mexican nationals) (Beale AFB ) were about the same proportionately. Here is what I have found from an area hospital. Ninety-seven percent of the patients that I treated were from Mexico and spoke only Spanish. The Emergency Department would see around 400 patients a day. During my eight hour shift, there would be anywhere from 75 to 150 patients in the ED. Of those, approximately 25 to 30% had complaints of abdominal pain.
Now for those who don’t understand the complexity of diagnosing abdominal pain, here are just a few of the possibilities: appendicitis, hepatitis, pancreatitis, cholecystitis, gastritis, stomach ulcers, colitis, ectopic pregnancy, pregnancy, and small bowel obstruction. Diagnosis involves numerous blood essays and radiological studies. A typical ER bill for this will be around $3000. So lets do the math. I’ll make it easy and underestimate the actual cost, but it will provide a ballpark figure. Out of 100 patients, 25% have abdominal pain. That’s 25 patients. Multiply that by 3000 and you get 75,000. ER’s are open 365 days a year. So multiply 75,000 by 365 and you get 27,375,000.
That’s $27 Million dollars! Or, $27 Million dollars of American tax paying money for free care to the people of Mexico from 1 hospital! The way I see, the government of Mexico owns the people of the USA a lot of money! It gets a lot more frustrating than this and perhaps I’ll share some more information, but right now, I’ve got to go to bed.

What about the millions and millions of Americans stampeding the Mexican border every day to get government subsidized medicine or dental care. For that matter, how about the Americans going to Canada for Healthcare and subsidized medicine? Funny how it works both ways!

Perhaps you would prefer a horse drawn carriage to keep your debt down.

Like I want to go to Ciudad Juarez for an appendectomy or Canada, and wait several weeks or months for the operation.

I believe he was being sarcastic and attempting to point out that the way
it works here in the US is not mirrored in any of the surrounding countries
for non citizens, IE Mexico and Canada will NOT give free health care to
just anyone, if you fall ill in Mexico for example and don't have money
than too bad for you, there is a major problem with the way we choose
to do things, we wont be able to ignore that amount of financial drain
for much longer with how bad the economy already is.

Basically the US is hemorrhaging money at an alarming rate and things will come to a
head long before our inept government starts to actually address issues
such as this one.

So just because they spoke Spanish you automatically assume that they are from Mexico?

There are 20 countries where Spanish is the dominant primary language, 420 million people worldwide.

Can you please explain to me how you came to the conclusion that every single patient you treated that spoke Spanish is from Mexico?

Damn those Mexicans!

They need to stop picking our fruit.

Stop cleaning our houses.

Stop building our houses.

Stop taking our jobs that lazy Americans would never do.

THIS IS NOT about immigration this is an actual problem, those who scream
that its just biased and racism simply cant seem to face reality, there is a
very REAL problem, from my point of view it is NOT with the people who receive
the care it is with the way our healthcare system works, i have no desire to
see these people go without medical care, however i do see that the financial
implications of the current system are simply not working at all.

Honestly how long can it go on that way before there is no more money to
be had, to ignore that under the guise of immigration is not responsible in
any way shape and or form, what happens when it all collapses and these
people can no longer get care? what needs to happen is realistic means
of lowering the cost of health care and providing an actual solution to the
problem other than borrowing more and more money, while it may
seem that the US can never go broke, it can and will happen if this type
of issue is forever ignored......

So sure make it out that anyone who wishes to point out that this is
simply a fantasy where we spend monopoly money with no consequence
is a racist bigot who hates all Mexicans, because it makes them feel somehow
morally superior, however in the real world where real money is the only means
of getting by this problem will persist........

You were not there?
The demographic sheet displays the information.

I left out the patients from Argentina, Brazil, or Bolivia.
And there are many more non-Americians that receive free, American taxpayer paid insurance, but
the numbers are in the single digits. Don't get me wrong, that in it's self, is costing us millions as well. But the bulk of the problem is the free healthcare that America is providing to Mexico.

That is a prejudiced, very shallow, misguided opinion.
I would be in a large private practice if I were in it for the money.
And even then, that doesn't add credence to your rant.
Back on topic, Mexico owes The USA millions of dollars for providing healthcare for their citizens.

wow, maybe i should be from a different
nationality. Im from the U.S. and getting health care
is a nightmare. Not that i wanted it, but i dont have 1.3
million in my checking account, and since i can no longer work
(doc's orders, not mine) the only option is to go for gov
medical care, which it has been *looking at a calendar around
14 months since i started all of this mess and still have no
medical coverage. Sure we have insurance through the
wife's work.. a lot of good that is.. $5000 deductible per
person per year, unless we can some how pay $450 a month
then it goes down to $1000 per person per year.

It amazes me how others from not in the country can come to
the U.S. and get coverage, get benifits and have no problems,
but for someone who was born here and worked all their life since
the age of 12 and paid taxes, has to fight tooth and nail to get
anywhere. It took 11 months for me to get disability, not that its
a lot compared to what i was making, but hey, it helps pay the
bill's. But the delay was not because of medical questions, or
a issue of if my condition qualified, it's just the govt doing what it
dose best, dragging its feet. mean while we had 11 months
of making it on just what the wife brought home, covering house
payment and bills and feeding the kids (because we made to much
for any assistance. If you can believe that nonsense).

As i have told many of my family and friends, i will die in a year
or two, but not because of my condition, or because the treatment
i need is not very avail, but because of the govt doing what it dose
best. Dragging its feet and taking its time.

Ahhh the good ol U.S. Yup, things are going to have to change
there is no way we can keep going the way we are, to much money
is going out in to many directions.

If it is such a drag to the country to give free medical care, then get the people to produce a medicaid card or turn them away.....Mexican citizens wont have one....
I look at the huge war budgets the massive r&d budgets for war and weapons, and wonder why we are going broke....not the medical aid for Mexicans......

You don't seem to understand what "GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZED" means. It means the government a.k.a. the people, pay with their taxes. Americans are taking advantage of those subsidies that they have not contributed to. See the problem?

I'm not following your rational. The American taxpayer IS paying for the FREE care given to the Mexican citizen.
To the tune of Millions of dollars. This money could go to US education, Sandy victims, starving children in our country!
