1.Lost in Translation, Not much to say here, Bill Murray is like a good wine..only gets better with age.
2.The Graduate, Classic

Comedy
1.The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou , hands down my favorite movie ever, you really have to pay attention but the cast and comedy in this movie is the best.
2.Snatch, Although possibly considered an action movie was none the less a great laugh.

Action
1.Gangs of New York, Allstar cast, Daniel Day Lewis was a master and made that movie a masterpiece.
2.13 Assassins(2011) an amazing remake of an amazing classic from the 50's if you like authentic samurai movies and great swordplay this movie is one of the best.

Horror
1.The Thing(1982), watched this movie as a kid and it scarred me, watched it as an adult and love it everytime. The paranoia they play up in that movie is amazing, and how the story develops and everyone turns on each other.
2.Event Horizon, I don't know why but that movie gets to me... i just can't explain it.

Dystopian
1.The Road Warrior
2.The Book of Eli , although not to much into the religious aspect or messege it won't doubt the power that book has on humans.

Sci/Fi
1.Prometheous, some people didn't get it or like it. To me it made perfect sense and just did it for me.
2.District 9 , those poor, poor, prawns.

Drama: The Grapes Of Wrath, Deuce Of Spades.

Comedy: Monte Python and the Holy Grail, The Big Lebowski.

Action: Vanishing Point, Pulp Fiction.

Horror: The Exorcist(still terrifies me), Poltergeist.

Dystopian: Mad Max, The Book Of Eli

Sci/Fi: The Empire Strikes Back, 2001 A Space Odyssey.

Shawshank was on my husband's list. Every time it comes on he sits down to watch, I'm like, "Really, again?" It is an awesome movie but after so many Sunday afternoons, enough!

And Children of Men... I forgot about that one! Great too!

I noticed some of us listed either "Mad Max" or "Road Warrior" for dystopian cat. but these are all related in case you didn't already know. These are raw, gritty, and tough films. The low budget really brings the violent and despairing scenario to life.

The first movie sets up the story line for the 2nd movie, which has become one of the best post-apocalyptic movies ever and actually the sequel is by far better than the first IMO. The 3rd movie isn't bad either....


1) Mad Max ----- Mel Gibson
2) The Road Warrior --------Mel Gibson
3) Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome ------ Mel Gibson/ Tina Turner

The first 2 movies is what put Gibson in the spotlight and made an international star out of him.

The legend of 1900-Tim Roth...need to say more?
Awakenings-This one always makes me cry and at the same time gives me hope.

Comedy:
Galaxy quest-So many references to Star Trek i can'help but loving it.
Paul-watching it made me feel i was reading ATS...It felt like home.

Action:
Reservoir dogs-Fantastic cast,smart story and the reason i love Tarantino.
Wanted-No reason.I just like it.

Horror:
In the mouth of madness-The best movie/tribute to the Cthulhu mythos.
30 days of night-Because this is how vampires should act in every movie.

Dystopian:
Equilibrium
The road

Sci-fi:
Event Horizon
Altered states
