Femme Fatales: 35 Vintage Female Mug Shots

I picked up the link to this one on a photography website I frequent. The member who posted it made the comment that mugshots were better in the old days. That may be so, but some of the mugs could stand some major improvement. Femme Fatales they aren't.

I always enjoy vintage photography and I hope you will enjoy this trip into the past too.

Convicted of murder. Mrs Dorothy Mort was having an affair with dashing young doctor Claude Tozer. On 21 December 1920 Tozer visited her home with the intention of breaking off the relationship. Mort shot him dead before attempting to commit suicide. Aged 32.

I have to admit, most of those gals were looking pretty rough! But we do have to consider that make-up and hair styling tools have come a long way since then. Imagine what a lot of the seemingly good looking ladies of today would look like without all of the tricks and tools we have available in the present. Not to mention the women of those times lived a much harder life than what we live now.

My goodness!...what an unusual looking group of women. Most of them look so much older than they really were.

They are certainly not femme fatales...at least not to me.

Her 'pose' for the camera was quite funny.


On a similar note, I used to surf the Tampa Bay mugshots website and play guess the felony. You can only see the details of the crime if you click on the mugshot.
I convinced myself that I was getting quite good at it.

I really am quite shallow



PS I think number 6 looks rather kinky, in a 'Miss Whiplash' kind of way.

Believe it or not you can see much the same faces today just taking a stroll on Vancouvers east side......
Theres little change in the desperation of 100 yrs ago and now.....
The wonder is that we have made not one whit of progress in that whole century.....
I fail to understand why these people exist in todays world...there is no logical reason for it.

Wow thanks for posting! I feel beautiful and skinny suddenly, even without makeup and my hair not done lol!

If only we sentenced criminals to hard labor these days, maybe there would be less repeat offenders. Great pictures!

I can also see why girls got married off at such an early age now. By the time they hit 24, it was all down hill!

One of my aunts was like that. Nice lady, but ugly as home made sin. And she was married with kids.
