Seems like its spreading... Is this coincidence, is it greater public awareness, is it a symptom of a sick society? Are we perhaps living in times of judgement?

Is it something more sinister altogether?

Or the MSM reporting the shooting 24/7 for weeks on end creating copy cats...

If the MSM shut their whore mouths for a year about shootings, I bet the number of shootings would go down.

Copycats or Manchurian candidates? I think we are being manipulated to think we are too violent to own guns. This is a CIA operation....its just too obvious.

There's always violence in the Philippines. It's so bad there, that when you go into certain stores, they have a security guard outside that will check your guns in and give them back when you leave. That's his only job.

Mass shootings have been ongoing. There is always someone climbing a tower with a rifle,
or shooting people from a car's trunk, or spraying bullets in a post office.

The difference is that as the population grows there are more insane people to commit such
acts. There is, however, only so many news sources to report them.

The real difference is in how normal people are drawn in, intrigued, frightened, fascinated,
and motivated by these insane acts of murder.

It is simple fact that more people die in bathtub slip and falls per year than in mass
shootings in public. Two hundred and fifty thousand people in the US die per year directly due
to medical malpractice. But death by slip and fall or misdiagnosis do not garner much attention
because there is no passion. We humans are drawn to passion and emotion--What MADE the guy
go crazy? Was it love? Was it hate? Was it vengeance?

And that's why the MSM reports these stories on the front page and breaks into regularly scheduled
programming. The reason is that you tune in to watch. You will change channels frantically in search
of information about what happened. You (not personal--the general public, I mean) are drawn like
moths to the flame...and the corporations who sell advertising know this.

The problem is the human condition...human curiosity...

Of course it could also be that we are intentionally being manipulated so the government can find good reason to grab our guns, but it doesn't matter to the general public if it is a conspiracy or not . They will watch and be intrigued and be led to think the same way the talking heads think....It is a sad human condition--driven by our fears, driven by our peers

It's in the Philippines, it's their government's problem. Again, the U.S. wouldn't have problems with mass shootings if we were all required to carry firearms. In a wolf pack, when one of the wolves goes insane and begins to act strange, they will all turn on it and tear it into pieces. We should learn a lesson from nature instead of thinking we can do better than the animals.

have you ever been to the Philippines? i ask as you don't really seem to know what you are talking about. to me it sounds like you may have second hand information.

yes there tends to be SOME violence in the Philippines, just as anywhere in the world. you make it sound like there is a rampage everyday. sorry that is not the case.

security guards at ONLY "certain stores"? only SOME SMALLER stores DO NOT have security guards. a fair portion of these guards are armed, mostly with what are pretty much sawed off shotguns, others have revolvers or semi auto handguns, yet some others are unarmed (complete with empty holsters or holsters containing a spare pair of gloves lol). it is just the way things are. any time you go into a mall you are checked for any weapons, cars are also checked before going into parking garages.

there ARE reasons for this. first off there are TWO major terrorist groups (and some splinter groups), the Muslims and the communists (sorry can't think of the names of the right now) that have been rather active at least since the last revolution (in 1986). they also keep people like panhandlers out (there are a lot of VERY POOR people sadly). then on top of that IT IS A JOB. one major issue is that there are not near enough jobs for everyone. to work at say mc donalds or to even be pumping gas you need to have at least graduated high school, to be a cashier, truck driver or anything you generally need to be a collage graduate (and ALL schooling has to be paid for by the parents as far as i know, even elementary school). so a security guard is just another way to employ someone. unlike in say North America, security guards will do things like seat you at a table if the hostess is occupied in a restraunt, but manly what they do is open the door for you and greet you to whatever store/mall etc you are entering or exiting, while at the same time making sure that you don't have a weapon. guess what, people don't shoot up malls, theaters or schools for some reason, perhaps it is because people are checked for weapons. not to mention of course that if someone were to try to do a shooting they would not last long as they would be gunned down before long by the armed security. i guess the door security would hold your gun for you (your store is not going to likely have an armed robbery), but only banks and government offices really are set up for it. i have never actually seen anyone turning over a gun to these guards. to say their ONLY purpose is to hold onto guns is rather naive.

oh and guess where i feel safer? not in the USA, but in the Philippines.

one thing of special note. there has ONLY been ONE case of a "road rage" shooting, and that was done by an AMERICAN who can't even LEGALLY OWN A GUN.

So let's look at the statistics for the Phillipines, shall we? As has already been mentioned they have extremely restrictive gun laws requiring licensing, background checks, registration and very limited scope or 'legal' firearms.

As for gun ownership level they rank 105th with 4.7 firearms per 100 population (the U.S. ranks 1st with 88.8 per 100 population). The Phillipines ranks 19th for firearm homicides with 8.93 gun homicides per 100,000 population and with just 49.9% of homicides involving a firearm (the U.S. ranks 28th with 2.97 homicides per 100,000 population and 60% of homicides involving firearms). Finally, despite having only 5% of the concentration of firearms (firearms per 100 population) compared to the U.S., the number of homicides per firearm is 55 times higher than that of the U.S.

So, fewer guns, much more restrictive laws, lower percentage of homicides by firearm and it still happens.

I've been there repeatedly. And every time I was there, there was always some violence going on. My ex-wife's uncle was murdered because the guy wanted our house, and went to the wrong place. He knew she was married to an American, and had a nice tv, and other things, went to her uncle's house by mistake, and when he opened the door, he stabbed him in the chest and killed him.

Mindanao is the most violent part of the Philippines, but there is always something going on in that country. The last time I was there, the police shot and killed several people by mistake, and stuck some automatic weapons in their car to make it look like they were carrying them, and that's why they shot them.

I'm talking about the guards at the banks, and at the mall, with the "check your gun here" desk. I'm not talking about security guards in every store. I know that the vast majority of them are unarmed, but how many places here in the US have a place to check your gun in before going inside?

so sorry to hear that. we had a couple of family friends kidnapped there by MILF and he husband killed. yet i don't let that incident colour my view of the whole country. same thing happens in North America as well tho,home invasions are like that. or as has been happening far too often in the states cops getting the wrong address and killing whoever happened to answer the door.

not familiar with that one, but it is possible. same type of thing happens North America all the time, probably all over the world. killing the wrong or unarmed person then trying to say they were being attacked, to avoid just punishment. tho i will say that in the Philippines they are really trying to deal with the bad cop situation unlike in North America.

not seen a check your gun at the malls, just no weapons allowed signs. yes banks and government offices do have them. the ONLY time i have seen a gun "checked" was going over to corregidore. so i have seen ONE gun checked out of thousands of people going into places.

i actually think that having a "gun check" counter and weapon check at malls and things in the US and Canada would be a good thing. then we wouldn't have to hear about people opening up and killing people in malls and theaters anymore. and they might even cause people who have ILLEGAL guns not to carry them for fear of getting caught with them.with them.

We should make drugs and having guns illegal for the Mexican Drug Cartels so that the killings on/near the border will stop.
