I am completely dumbfounded when I read stories like this. I can never understand why some people think this kind of behavior is acceptable. I want to rant about this story, but I am at a loss of words. It's horrifying.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents announced today they have rescued 44 children from sexual abuse as part of a child pornography investigation that netted 245 arrests over five weeks late last year.

Among those arrested:___________ from Fresno, Calif., who was allegedly abusing a 7-year-old girl who suffered from mental disabilities. Also arrested was ____________ from Clovis, Calif., who allegedly had over 1.2 million images and 7,000 videos of child pornography on his computer, ICE said.

You know what I want to know. I don't want their real world names HALF as much as I want to know their Online personas and screen names. I don't know where they did their evil deeds. Up here in the open and light of day ...or down deeper where most never go. However, either way, I think in their world as well as ours, their given Christian name is about the least informative thing.

Agents need to start releasing that OTHER name some of us may actually know these animals as in totally different context to where they were busted. I'm always curious ...Did I know any one in these huge busts and just never suspected the online 'person' I thought I knew hid something much darker?

My heart and prayers go out to all those children.

I call upon all the powers that are in Heaven... and the healing powers of the universe.. heal them now...in their spirits, souls, bodies. hearts, minds and emotions. I pray that they grow into healthy, prospering adults who do good in this world..amen.

No matter what your spiritual belief's are...I call upon all members of ATS to pray for the healing of those children.

As for all those vile people that were caught; may God pass his swift and eternal judgement on them.

Any one of us may have run across one or more of these bottom feeders.

Fact of the matter is we may never know. Some may even live next door to these people.

Geez, the poor kids

What a sick industry that seems to only stay strong. I think examples should be made of these criminals that may deter others to some degree. Chemical castration with an X tattooed on their forehead and maybe sent to an island where all pedophiles go and they can just survive amongst each other.

Agreed, the children need all the support they can get and then some.

I'd like to add though, that the punishment for the ones who did this be long and painful.

Couldn't have said those words any better than you wrote them.

40+ children....the impact of what has happened to them will linger within their souls for the rest of their lives. I truly hope they can overcome what has happened to them and live something of a "normal" life.

I will pray for these poor innocent souls.

As for the offenders....they will get what's coming their direction...no doubt about that...scum of the earth!

I think when they go after online identities they better get the right guy, because such threat as this is big... it can cause someone's life, career, and everything if it was a mistaken identity.

I'm all for castration, just not the chemical kind. Honestly though, this is probably just the tip of the iceberg. This very sick and twisted way of life seems to be very prevalent. And some people will done anything for a little money.

I think it is weird as well. The only reason I can come up with, is there must be and international aspect to this. Maybe some of those arrested travel from country to country to avoid being caught. Or they're buying/selling children from all over the world. Then again it could be images and video's are from all over. Could be a combination of the three.

Well, I thought of that and what a wide range of SN's exist here, for example. Any number of them are hardly unique. Although many add a little something to make a common name a bit more unique and recognizable I'd say. For instance, I used to go onto many sites in the late 90's to find Wrabbit was hardly a unique name....as much as I'd have liked to think it was. Add 2000 or 2001 as I've used both, and it suddenly becomes a name I never see previously taken when I go to sign up.

Additionally...I think the biggest thing to avoid the idea of a false accusation? If the person is still around to argue? it obviously wasn't them....since the one busted will be missing. The release of the SN for ID to those in the online community would simply explain why so and so just vanished one day.

First of all, deterrents don't work for crime. Compulsory criminals never think will get caught, so never truly consider the punishment.

Second, that is a barbaric punishment worthy of a dystopian 1984-like society.

Third, these pedophiles are people who are SICK. Considering them sub-human or completely beyond any hope of remediation is not rational and certainly not moral.

Fourth, if you start a precedent like that, you introduce an acceptance of brutality into the minds of the public. It is precisely that sort of schism which allows good people to justify horrible things. Obama supporters love the idea of peace and democracy, but don't care that his policies are directly responsible for the deaths of more children than pedophiles abuse 100 times over.

Fifth - you're completely ignoring that a significant percentage of these prisoners are wrongfully convicted. You can't ever justify punishing the innocent.

"Civilization can be seen in the way it treats its prisoners.". - Dostoyevsky

Sounds like the beginning rumblings of a witch hunt... The internet is a complicated place, and it's nearly impossible to tie virtual data to a specific real-world individual, especially if one chooses to use methods to further anonymize oneself. Can you think of the kind of permanent damage you could cause if you accidentally "outed" an innocent person?

Errr... I think I got totally misunderstood here.... My bad somehow if I did.

I wasn't talking about screen names for people suspected... being looked for .. or accused. I was saying that those arrested and already on their way into the system either convicted or well on the road to getting there. They always release the real world names of the people but nothing Online related. That's understandable on Pedophiles as a general thing. They may not even have online identities or if they do, may have nothing to do with their crimes.

However, when we heard about major busts where it's 100% about online kiddie porn distributors and users? That's where it would be interesting to know if 'they walk among us', so to speak, in any close way. I don't KNOW that I've ever been close online or otherwise to someone like that. That's the problem though...how would I know? Countless people drop out of sight all the time and many times for good. Never saying goodbye or indicating what happened. So..I wonder sometimes when reading these news stories. I mean they have to do something other than what they're busted for, while online right? I wonder how many are mixed right in, everywhere? (looks around) Nawww...
