So their names and addresses are a matter of public record due to gun registration and they are pissed that a newspaper published them? Isn't that like getting pissed off at the phone book? They should be thanking the paper for pointing out their ignorance and belief in security through obscurity- which is no security at all.

If these records weren't public they'd have some basis for their complaints.

Publishing them like they did does however demonstrate a very strong bias toward gun owners. An over the top bias reflective of a total lack of understanding.

They were "obtained to be published" under the FOI Act, and the reason they were granted the right to publish them, was because of Newtown's tragedy. The records were never public without special request, but now they are. No thanks to braindead, money hungry, media.

The thinking was that behind every one of the permits there was another AL in waiting. Real good grasp of things on their part.

Today, the gun permit map was pulled. Not sure what made them take it down, but at least they did the right thing finally.

So would you want your name and address published in a newspaper for all to see?
