Those numbers of 20,000 and 30,000 impaled sounded so high to me that I had to go look up some stats on how many US troops have died in various wars. I found a nice summary on Wikipedia here.

No wonder those numbers sounded high when you look at the number of troops that died in Iraq and Afghanistan - "only" around 48,430 between the two since 2001 - over more than a decade. I guess we just aren't used to so many dying in our current wars as we apparently were in the past. Look how many died during the Vietnam war, World War I and II and the Civil War! So I guess back then, twenty or thirty thousand dead in one conflict must not have been so unusual, although dead + impaled seems to have been worth noting!

How do you get that 48,430 died in the latest wars? According to your own source the number was:

War on Terror: Afghanistan and Iraq Wars total 2001–present 4,977 1,303 6,518

So 6,518 US Soldiers have died in the current conflicts 2001 to present.

So hypothetically, how would a person kill a real vampire? If a cross would hold one back, would a star of david work for a jewish person? What about a shotgun for an NRA member? I'd be more comfortable with the shotgun, because if it doesn't work, you still have a shotgun.

And how do we determine who is and who isn't really a vampire? What if it's just a shut-in of the human variety who has pale skin because they don't get out? It's bad form to think you're killing a vampire when you're really killing a porphyriac.

A stake in the heart, decapitation and fire will work just fine.

And how do we determine who is and who isn't really a vampire?

If the person in question attacks you and try to bite you and the teeth are sharp, well that's either a vampire(so no problem) or a psycho (and you can claim self-defence in the court
).
Of course you won't go around and impale every pale person you see,coz then they'll propably lock you up and throw the key away.

Okay, let's say you're in a situation where you've killed a real live vampire, and they don't believe you? What should a person do if you've just got a vampire stabbed through the heart that's starting to stink up the basement and will cause a lot of unnecessary questions to be asked?

I just hope that this is a rhetorical question and you don't have a dead person in your basement.....

For the sake of conversation, you burn it or you bury it but without removing the stake from the heart.

Am I the only one that finds the silence and lack of a response to your implied question disturbing?

A well put together thread, I would say Vlad was somebody born at the wrong place in the wrong time more so then a mythical vampire that the book and all the stories that sprung from it made him out to be. As you can see that whole period in history is full of bloodshed, and the only reason why Vlad Dracul even stuck out is because of the circumstances which made him what he was. Literally he was surrounded on all sides by hostile forces and enemies, and treacheries, I mean his own brother had his eyes put out with hot pokers and buried alive, and his dad was killed likely in the same manner in the wars and battles going on, so! um! ya! what do people expect from somebody born and raised in all that? DUH! But likely without him and all that happened most of Europe if not all would be Muslim now and Christianity would be a minority and the face of Europe and the whole world will be completely different. But really what was going on and the whole thing can be summed up in one word. That word being WAR.

The whole era was just one battle that lead to another battle that lead to a war which started another war, which made kings, queens, royal families, wealthy merchants, boyars, aristocracies and bloodlines, like you said the whole thing over a few generations shaped the outcome of Europe and a great many things. It was basically the power struggle of the supper powers of there day, and whats really funny is that stuff is still going on today, none of it really ended, it just evolved with the ages slowly creeping forward. And whats even more funny is that Vlad is probably not the worst killer in terms of numbers, in that whole era, in fact its just the method that was used which brought attention. But you can bet that the real numbers of the dead reach farther in the multitude then all the battles Vlad was in or atrocities he committed, however there just numbers on a board of dead soldiers, peasants in random towns and cities and collateral damage, and so not of consequence because it just does not sell so well with the populous.

Now on vampires, well the only ones I see around now a days is the energy vampires types, most often known as assholes or those people who just like to dig at you and play mind games. In fact most of the original text on the lilu and all that seems to be just mistranslated and long forgot stories which were supposed to impart into future generations a important fact that we all feed off of one another energies as a collective species, and some do so more then others. No really it happens daily and most people do not even notice, even the act of watching a football game, or watching a political debate on the tube is a form of energy transfusion. And yes there are people who take that stuff to a whole nother level with rituals and things, even blood rituals involving cults, # even the whole love thing and human relations is an act of energy transfusion, don't believe me go on the relationship section and count the number of times people wonder if there ex or significant other was a vampire or succubus because they feel drained, of more then there assets that is. But the vampires you see in the movies of them turning into bats and going around at night crawling through peoples windows to suck on there neck is just that movie stuff, for kids. Or at least as far as people know they do not exist, and even that is all just a matter on what exactly you mean by vampire.

People have there priorities all screwed up, ain't that a shocker.
Now whats more scary some guy in a cape going around at night sucking blood from a lady or two? Or a guy who impaled 30,000 people literally like a forest of the dead and the dying, and yes it does take a bit of time to die while your impaled its not instantaneous. Or something like WW2 which left over 60 million people dead? And for what? Who really knows right?
This world always had its priorities all mixed up, and there are worse monsters out there even in this day and age walking around or dressed up in fancy drapes then all the stories you see brought up in the books or on the TV, in fact those are mostly there to distract you from the real atrocities going on.

Well, I guess the person whom I thought would be hurt/embarrassed may know more than I thought, thanks all for the inbox messages.

I wanna go about this in the best way I can without hurting myself either by looking like some trolling attention whore.

Long story short, I know this won't be a shocker, but I know their is a lot of child/sexual abuse handed down in that group....

I think the vampirism is some how stealing the life from the child, because once they do these awful things to you, you feel dead for the rest of your life.

I also remember some weird fire circlce thing (satanic ritual) but yeah.... I guess the "living dead" in that group, in the real world, are their victims of sexual abuse, because you never feel alive again..... they think you will black it out forever maybe, but then you remember in grade 4 and try and get help, then boom.... something else happens that you actually DO black it out this time and you are more dead than before then again in your 20's and 30's until you learn to just shut up and keep the remaining of the healing you might have accomplished...

I guess I was wondering if this is known at all, and if any others got help from this.

Let's face it the guy was no vampire in the mythological sense of the word. Even the many hyped up atrocities laid at his door were quite likely a smear campaign, designed to ridicule, cheap titillation and a boogieman story for the masses. One guy even had reason to make Vlad Tepes out to be a baddun to cover his own backside.

In contrast, documents of Germanic, Saxon, and Hungarian origin portray Vlad as a tyrant, a monster so cruel that he needs to be stopped. For example, Johan Christian Engel characterizes Vlad as "a cruel tyrant and a monster of humankind".[38] Several authors and historians believe that this may be the result of a bad image campaign initiated by the Transylvanian Saxons who were actively persecuted during Vlad's reign and later maintained and spread by Matthias Corvinus.[26][38][39][40] It is conceivable that these actions were not beyond the Hungarian King since he had already framed Vlad Tepes by producing a forged letter to incriminate Vlad of coalition with the Turks; however, there is incontestable evidence, both in Romanian and foreign documents, including Vlad's own letters, that he killed tens of thousands of people in horrible ways.

Killing tens of thousands of people in horrible ways...Well yeah, that's quite a tally. But given the bloke was betrayed, widowed, imprisoned and god knows what else for trying to do the right thing for his principality in a time where no one seemed to play fair and plague abounded then life must have seemed petty damn harsh. If you had the prospect of enemies on all sides then you'd imagine piling up stinking bodies on the edge of the Danube or impaling your enemies might give them cause to think twice in meddling with you. Romanian and Russian text's paint him in a much better light as a fair and just ruler. So whichever way it was in reality, either madman or Just he certainly made his bit of life in the history books colourful.

So back again to him being vampire. Still a no on that one in my mind...But I bet at some point he did actually say to someone...."Our vey's are not.......your veys".

What can one do if there's a cabal of secret vampires in high places that are both covering up the existence of vampires and trying to murder one's self?

Out of sight out of mind...... divert and redirect attention to someone else....

Completely stop thinking about them or talking about them until they are focused on someone else, and then, still stay on the down low....

Just be boring or of no use to them by fear of them or attention to them I guess is all I could say.

Until then, avoid them like the black plague, including phone calls which can "trigger you" to do their will.
