This is a '94 tv-movie which had some impact on viewers like "War of the Worlds" did back bin '38.

In Fort Smith, Arkansas, the CBS affiliate (KFSM-TV) reported that they had received dozens of calls regarding the incident and whether it was actually happening. The area's ABC, Fox, and NBC affiliates were also flooded with complaints, asking them why they were not covering this event at the same time that CBS was covering it.
It's about some mysterious asteroid impacts and the story develops during the news broadcast.
Really worth watching. I'm glad the full version is on Youtube.

In 1983, the made-for-TV movie "Special Bulletin" was along the same lines as far as having a live newscast scenario. It involved a group of people taking over a boat and putting a nuclear bomb inside, with the threat of detonating it if their demands aren't met. I liked it more than "Without Warning".
