The video shows what appears to be the decomposing remains of a mermaid.

At first I thought it was a mannequin but when he/she goes in for a closer look, it appears real (not to say that it is). To be honest I've never give mermaids much thought but this video has peaked my interest.

Watch the video, let me know what you think.

Funny how the body is decomposing, but the hair is thick, lustrous and "maahvalous" looking.

I call fake.

This has been covered numerous times on ATS. I'm sure it was found to be a hoax. Here's an old thread on it that might be helpful for information. Dead Mermaid...

I thought the same.

But isn't hair the last thing to decompose?

It appears to have hip bones..Which would not make sense for the type of non bi-pedal form of locomotion. Unless of-course it is one of those "Little Mermaid" type mermaids that can sprout legs.

I think that if by chance mermaids were found to exist that they wouldn't "strike a pose" like the one in the video as they were dying, because that's what would have had to happen for the body to be positioned like that- not to mention the fact that it supposedly just washed up and landed in the perfect position to show off the "death pose". I'm calling hoax on this one!

I'd say fake with out any doubt. If it was real we wouldn't be needing to know if it was real today due to this is old news and found a post from 2009 here on ATS.

This could be on an episode of Face Off. Whoever did the makeup put some time and effort into it.
It actually looks pretty good, even if it is fake.

The hair looks too good, as others have said. If it is fake, they did an awesome job on the rest of it!

What on Earth makes you think the media would be allowed to report on them if they were real though? It appears mermaids are a "homeland security" subject...
