Maybe not what you'd like, but two of my favorite "recent" movies are "Arthur" (remake) and "Crazy, Stupid, Love". Everybody hates the actor in "Arthur" (no spoilers from me, even the actor's name) but it's like he was born for the role.

You seem to like the violence porn. My all-time favorite, and I'm sure you've seen it, is "Kill Bill" (both movies as one movie).

Netflix does have a lot of trash, but there's also a lot of great stuff if you're willing to sift through it.

On Netflix now:

Exit Through the Gift Shop- Incredible documentary about street art that takes a really surprising turn.
Santa Sangre- Very weird horror movie from Alejandro Jodorowsky.
Death Race 2000- The original Death Race movie. Campy fun.
Drive
God Bless America
The Artist- Last year's best picture winner. Silent, black and white, but really engaging and fun.
Battle Royale
True Grit- The Coen Bros one.
Bronson- Awesome movie where Tom hardy plays one of Britain's most violent prison in-mates.
Bottle Rocket
Wet Hot American Summer- Comedy, parody of '80s summer camp movies.
Winter's Bone
Chinatown
This is Spinal Tap
Snatch
The Thing
Mulholland Dr- Extremely weird movie. One of David Lynch's best.
Brick- Nice indie noir movie set in a high school. Really great.
The Fall- The most beautiful movie I've ever seen.
Trainspotting
13 Assassins
Adaptation
Being John Malkovich
Memento
Time Crimes- An interesting Spanish time travel movie.
The Fighter
Oldboy
Dusk Til Dawn
The Graduate
In The Loop- Really smart comedy about a bumbling politician getting Britain involved in the Iraq War.
This Film is Not Yet Rated- Great documentary about the MPAA
Ip Man
Let The Right One In
Miller's Crossing- My favorite Coen Bros movie. '20s gangster drama about Gabriel Byrne being stuck between two warring factions.
Winnebago Man
Punch Drunk Love
Apocalypse Now
The Producers
Grave Encounters
Charade
The man Who Fell to Earth
Secret of Kells- Beautiful animated movie from Ireland
Four Lions- Very dark comedy
Dogtooth- Greek movie about parents who isolate their three children and feed them misinformation about the world. Very dark.
Slapshot
The Man From Earth
Double Indemnity
Heavenly Creatures
Masque of the Red Death
Sling Blade
Bad News Bears
Marat/Sade
Outfoxed
Slaughterhouse Five

Editing to add:
Jackie Brown

One of my favs for 2012 Limitless(Watch)

I think you may dig this one, although it is from 09, it has a unique plot with some dark angles.

Watch The Box
Also check this site for movie watching,it is awesome! Putlocker is always a good option, but downloading the Divx free streamer is best.

A-ha, I love movies, so let me suggest a few of my favourites:

1.) "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams (At IMDB)

2.) "The Fountain" with Hugh Jackman (At IMDB)

3.) "Sunshine" (At IMDB)

NOTE:
These are just some of my all-time favourites.
If you want, I can name some more.

Regards
QMask

I do love "What Dreams May Come" too!

New movies I saw that scary movie I can't think of the name-the guy like Slenderman-white face-black suit-kids kill their parents while he watches them? Damn...

I love: Insidious, Inception, Shutter Island, Bourne Supremacy movies, Donnie Darko, Fear and loathing in Las Vegas,The Simpson's Movie, Shawshank, Oh Brother where art thou?, Constantine, The Chronicles of Riddick-and the others that go along with that one, Event Horizon, The Grinch, Total Recall, The old Philadelphia Experiment, SpongeBob, Star Wars, Freddy Movies, Halloween (my favorite Halloween movie of all-time), and so many others.

I can never recommend "Primer" enough link

Netflix also has a movie right now that I found really entertaining called "Lunopolis". It's sort of in a documentary style, but its a pretty fun sci-fi flick. link
