Cliff extended, debt ceiling ignored.

The reps are now sitting on a vote that does nothing. If they vote it dow they'll look like jerks but if they approve it they will not, actually, be doing anything other than moving the deadline out a couple of months and splitting the issue up over a few deadlines.

I actually think they should vote it down. This would force them to act now instead of later, where they will, again, push it off.

The last debt ceiling raise had certain aspects added as a condition to raising the ceiling. These were so horrible that they figured they would force the gov't to fix these issues.

What the ceiling and the cliff are doing is shining big spotlights on the ineptitude of our leaders. It's exposing them for what they are, a group of guys who are content to sit on their butts and discuss the concept of making a decision, without ever actually making a decision.
