Don't post much in this forum, but I will put this out there for those who understand seismology better than I do.

Comments at the bottom of an article are as about as useful as the comments I am typing now. Id suggest we wait and hold off before sounding any alarms.

What alarm bell dude? It seems like more of a curiosity looking for anomalies from some of the many interested folks here on ATS who are into seismology.

Just a note for perspective here and to be made in a constructive way, but 4-5 and up to occasional low 6's aren't unusual for the Fukushima area, off shore. In fact, it's been downright regular and common going back before the big one that kicked off the nightmare for all.

CSEM-EMSC - European Earthquake Center

^^ That is Europe's version of the USGS so to speak. At least, it functions that way for supplying quake data across the globe and often, areas the USGS simply isn't focused on for it's public data displays. After all, how many people looking up USGS main public data are doing it from Armenia or Turkey or Cambodia? This one covers pretty much everything.

What makes it MOST valuable though and why I post it here is it's SEARCH feature.

Quake-Search

From that page you can use the Google Map that is embedded to pan, zoom and move all around the globe. When you have the spot you want, click on the box in the bottom left of the map window. That allows you to simply drag a box over a specific area and defines the Search Parameters for an overall Earthquake search in ONLY that area within the box. Hence... You can now see at a quick glance whether a 4 or 5 may be rare or real common for an area.

Hope that helps!

No worries, onequestion, this poster is the new Wet Blanket on all that we bring to question here on ATS.

He doesn't want you to notice anything out of the ordinary.
So what's he doing on ATS, a sight that supposedly specializes in events and news items that are out of the ordinary and seek further questioning???

Search me!

Agreed. People can be so rude here. I think M5s at Fuk are something to post about. I immediately clicked on the thread.
