room cost 25
men end up paying 3x 9 =27
27+ 3 dollars = 30
kid gets 2
27-2 = 25
room cost 25
kid made 2 bucks off the men.

It depends on whether that line is interpreted as each god defining their own 'yes' and 'no' or whether they share definitions. Even assuming the latter, your solution is incorrect. For any combination of gods, the answer will be either three yes or two yes one no (edit: or, if god no == human yes then the combinations are flipped).

This is not a question for an atheist. An atheist would argue that it's a logical fallacy to call them gods, that god doesn't exist, and that the question is a fairytale just like the rest of the religious texts of these so-called gods.

It's not a question for a monotheist either. Two of the so-called gods are not real.

You would have to ask a question in the negative. Like, "can you make a boulder than you can't lift?" Or any other snarky troll-like question, like "did you tell the Phelps' to protest that funeral?"

The hardest part is admitting that you have three gods.

Something simple like "does my butt look fat in this?" would be a decent question. Oh wait, three questions.

You find a fact about one god, making a point. Then you ask the other two about the one with the point, to rule out which ones are what. I think it can be solved with a mathematic equation even, something like calculus. I never took calculus so I have to step aside for the right answer.

BYRD,

There is a section in a text book all about truth tables to solve logic problems the book is called "A Survey Mathematics with Applications" 8th Edition by Angel Abbott and Runde

You should also check out De Morgans Laws, Euler Diagrams and syllogistic arguments. Truth tables help you solve these problems by changing words to symbols and words and statements to link them in an equation.

I've got to say - in all the years I have pondered how to explain this question, while completely understanding where all of the dollars are, this is the simplest, most succinct way to describe it to someone else. I never thought of explaining it to someone so simply. Great job and a star!

Most of the time you try to explain that the three men each paid 9 dollars and the bellboy has 2, so 9 X 3 = 27 plus 2 = 29... it makes it difficult to explain to someone that it is just a little trick.

9x3 = 27 + 2 (In the bellboys pocket) = 29. Therefor, there's a "missing" dollar.
