Well kids, chalk up another year. Just 2 days away from 2013.
(2013?
20 x 13 = bad times?
)

What was the BEST thing that happened to you this year? (Let's focus on the positives for a bit, shall we?)

For me?

The Earth didn't get all blowed up
My family is happy and healthy
I'm changing careers (always exciting!)

and

For the first time in decades of marriage, my wife has agreed to let me purchase a two-handed broad sword!

(giggity)

What say you ATS?

What are the BEST things that happened to you this year?

Well mate the VA finally admitted I have Gulf War illness after going around in circles with them for 12 years, and my claim was approved, but won't know what my compensation will be until next year.

The down side, more of your taxes will go to me lol.

Other than that I have nothing.

I think a highlight for me is bonding with my best friend's son.
I sparked his interest in outdoor survival skills and eventually in early 2012,I dragged his ass out for an ice fishing trip.
He slept on a frozen lake in minus 35 and did very well and had no complaints.(other then puking from trying to keep up to us in the drinking dept)

Since then we have done a few trips and have made different shelters and have hunted some frog legs.

The first time i brought him out he suffered pretty hard....now he is up to snuff and it was cool watching him earn his wings and grow.

On one trip, after waking up in the morning,I counted 37 beer cans scattered through our camp.

I now consider him a friend instead of my friend's son.

Rofl totally dig the two handed broadsword, you go!

For me: hitting sales goals at my job and earning a Christmas bonus! that rocked.
also finally finding an atheist community near me ( i live in the bible belt, not an easy task)

and of course the world didn't end, we managed to avoid that crazy santorum guy
however his name was spelled. so overall id say the world got a small leg up.

oh and they finally got some good data on the higgs boson, that's gotta be in the
top 5, farther down the road that one is gonna pay off big.

That is.... just amazing. I can't get past that Beez.

For me? This sounds really silly, but going home for the final time this year, after many many plane trips back to my old state due to legal BS and ex BS, point a almost cost me everything I had built, point b almost cost me my sanity a second time.

I arrived home a little over a week ago, after a disastrous two weeks away, and sitting down with my disfunctional family complete once again, I had this sense of being where I belong with the people I belong with.

Other than that, I got the chance to create and write with some absolute genius right here on this forum, and join in on some great works.

Great scientific achievements definitely a plus.

The two-handed broad sword?

Guys's gotta do what a guy's gotta do!
