Life is the Mallet in a Game of Whack a Mole

It's a lonely ride down from the top
You're riding down the footprints of your past
All of your progress is being erased
Have to choose to give up or find another way

Riding listening realizing the moments you missed
Your way to the top was blinded by the bliss
Realizing you could have made more of it
Pouring your soul as you travel toward the abyss

Wondering what could have been
Hope fleeting with each hove beating the past
Knowing and wishing you could have made it through the test
If you had only known and not been so focused on getting to the top

Worries and misguided goals matter little now
You have to make it day by day
It doesn't matter where you've been
Need to find a meal and a place to rest

Good night everyone and appreciate where you are
A tumble down the mountain is always near by
It doesn't matter what you drive for a car
We are all susceptible to the player of whack a mole way up high...

Every time we get out of the hole we get smacked right back down to where we started.

Exactly...

For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin--real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life...

Very well written my friend. I love poems.

Of course I write the best when I'm depressed. But I have to get out what's on my heart.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful words of truth and what you feel.
