I haven't looked at her size yet. I was just guessing. Only because I applied for a position.

The three officers made a point to ask me "How am I going to shoot a shotgun?"

and I said...

Maybe if you taught me?

Stupid question.

They thought the shotgun would run me over.

Never got the job though. But, I do have the degree. What a waste of school that was.

Funny , how the insane ones get through, but the sane ones..."screw you"...

Police say gunfire erupted inside the station at about 5:45 a.m. Friday.

As the man was being processed on the complaint, he grabbed a gun and began firing. Three officers were hit before the suspect was shot and killed.

Deputy Police Chief David Harkins says one officer suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was undergoing surgery. Two other officers suffered minor injuries.

From your source.

Perhaps they should have armed guards at the police station. I'm sure DHS would approve.

I'm sure if the cops didn't have guns and that gun he grabbed was the only one in there they'd all be dead. Or is this post sarcasm?

Good questions!! I haven't ever been in that section, but I have been in the building. I couldn't tell you how that area is set up. This is why I wish you could have heard the 911 recording from when they first went out to pick him up. He was being mouthy at that time and they thought he was on something. The town is really nice, and it's one of those scenarios that just don't happen around here.....until now.....I was really shocked when I heard cops were being shot right down the street. I hope there isn't any retaliation. That's what's being spread around town now. Scary....

Just came over the scanner a little bit ago. The ex girlfriend the shooter stalked, called the p.d. Tonight, because she had to go out, and she was terrified. So they gave her a police escort...she must be hearing the same thing we are around town. Everyone is really afraid of retaliation against the p.d...never thought this would ever even be an issue so damn close to home....

And how did he get a gun in a police station?

He took it off one of the cops during a struggle.

If they disarm us, they should disarm themselves as well, just to put everyone on an equal footing.

This would be insane because the criminals will never be disarmed. No one will be on equal footing. Remember that criminals don't follow laws. All you would be doing is sending out cops weaponless against criminals with guns.

Either way the cops are still going to carry firearms. The problem was not the gun the problem was that he was able to get a hold of it INSIDE A POLICE STATION!!!

,,,And we want to arm teachers? Whats to prevent a student from overpowering a teacher and taking his or her gun. This happened in a police station where the surrounding officers all have guns. Consider a scenario in a hallway packed with unarmed students and a lone teacher is overpowered by a student. I hate to think of what could happen.

No.

The problem was the individual who decided to commit a violent act.

Do I really need to prove my point by once again citing countries like the UK which has the highest violent crime rate in the Industrialized World without the use of guns.

Something is stinky here. Cops have lock downs on their guns. Hard to release unless you're the one carrying it. So this guy "just grabbed a gun"? Uh-uh. Either all the facts haven't come in or there was negligence on the part of the cop(s). Firearm not locked down. I would HATE to think that someone would lay a firearm around on a desk. We haven't reached that level of stupidity yet, have we?

You're on it Trep. Something again smells to high heaven ! There's just no way that any lock up in the country has officers with sidearms walking around all willy nilly amidst any inmates, with their sidearm on.

How retarded would that be? You'd have fools every ten minutes try'in to rush a cop like this.

Most likely the inmates that were white males early 20s of course.

From my exp.it's a federal offense to bring a firearm into any lock up in the country. Contraband or anything.

No more violence than normal, now its just the hot topic and the media acts like it s a new thing. Last year about 9-10k Americans were killed with a gun, and thats way down from the 80's dont fall for the bullsh*t.

How could anyone make a connection between this story and the guns debate?

The guy swiped a gun from a cop and started shooting inside the police station. It wasn't his gun and, whether guns were legal or were banned, the outcome would have been the same.

A HUGE stretch on the part of the gun grabbers if they think this story furthers their agenda.

Not really an agenda mate, I do think guns should be banned, but not just for the public, for cops and guards also, so in that respect it wouldn't have happened

So we are supposed to teach our police knife fighting now?

Crime is never going to stop. Whether its with guns or knives, or whatever. This proves that crime can and will happen anywhere. All you can do is your best, but you're not going to stop it. People want promises, but only a fool makes promises. There are no absolutes in life.

Originally posted by intrepidThis is what puzzles me. It's a frickin cop shop. Why was her gun not locked down in her holster? She was pointing at the guy amid numerous other cops? WTF?

I am sure it was "locked down" which is all of a thumb button snap BTW. The guy was a corrections officer who probably knows how to flip the buttons on a duty pouch or holster pretty intimately.

Did you see her photo? Looks all of 21 years old, petite and attractive as well (which has nothing to do with it other than my being a pig  ).

Her physical appearance might have had something to do with him attacking since he seemed to have some issues dealing with women. Perhaps it was a bridge too far for his ego to be processed by a chick - who knows what makes idiots commit suicide by cop.

She was a rookie according to the articles I read which jives with the booking duties she was performing.

She will never live this crap down and the circumstances don't favor females in the profession for the young, small female rookie to have been the one disarmed in the station. (As we can see by the discussion here...)

However, IMO this could have probably gone down the same way regardless of who happened to be doing the processing. Perhaps someone with a little more street smarts and seniority would have been more aware of the visual cues people give before they act but then again they might have been overconfident.

Did you even read my post? I am for guns but in this incident the problem was that their was a gun laying around in a police station where criminals are. Hypothetically if that gun was sitting their for a year eventually a criminal is going to pick it up... So no in this incident FROM THE POLICE POINT OF VIEW it was their fault as well as the criminals fault.

Allow weapons more please, perhaps some supporters of gun rights need to learn the hard way, though they are not the victims of such cases, to actually learn the lesson.

And hope that your neighbor won't hit his head in the wall one day and walk with his ass upward and also bringing a gun.

Continue Gun Rights Supporters!
